There is a reason why we give WVU and Pat White fits and thats because we can't use his speed to get the corner or big scrambles, if we can run down Pat White we can definitely run down Reesing.

Pat is a run-first QB. Reesing only runs when absolutely necessary. He holds on to the ball too long at times, but he's usually good at avoiding big hits.

No doubt crowd noise and homefield will have an effect, but probably not on KU's ability to call plays at the line of scrimmage.

Looking at last year's results, KU played 4 close road games versus lesser opponents, and although they won all 4, I am hoping that this is an indication they may struggle a little away from home.

Crowd noise could also make a huge difference in the game. With young tackles and multiple receivers split wide, we need to make it as hard as possible for Reesing to make adjustments at the line.

This won't really matter too much with our offense.

ask west virginia. crowd will play a huge factor. if you dont think so then you are a fool

He means that we run a no-huddle, so there isn't much verbal communication before the snap. False starts are a rarity now with the coaches sending signals and few snap counts. Texas A&M has a notorious home crowd advantage, but they didn't faze KU last year. Not saying they won't get rattled in their first road game, but crowd noise isn't a huge issue for teams that run a no-huddle.

Selvie will be in Reesing's grill all day if they don't use different snap counts.  The guy will  get past the OT before he stands up.  If the OT and George are both looking at the ball, George will have the clear advantage.

You may not run into false start penalties, but there are other factors you neglected here.

The point is don't expect to see what you saw in that OSU clip because we will run him down.  The best thing for KU to do is let Reesing set his feet and get the ball out if he's on the move all night or having to be elusive in the pocket it plays right into our hands.

I am hoping that this is an indication they may struggle a little away from home.

While KU dominated those conference road games outside of the scoreboard (many wasted scoring opportunities, 4th quarter comebacks), they are historically poor on the road. I assume we're at least ten points worse on the road.

Those saying Reesing needs to set his feet haven't watched him. He may get sacked several times, but he has a great release out of the pocket. Selvie can't be contained, but he won't get to Reesing every snap.

Crowd noise wasn't an issue in any of the hostile Big 12 stadiums last season. Maybe it will be at USF?

If hes moving it plays right into our hands.  Our D sees Grothe every day who is far more elusive and is great throwing on the run as well.  If Reesing is scrambling all night it means we are winning the battle up front and it also will throw off the timing of your O.  Also it's not just Selvie you have to worry about the rest of our D-line are far from slouches and dominated WVU's line who was one of the best in the country last season.  If Reesing is running for his life all game there is no way KU wins this game.

It's what KU does, and they've done it well for over a year. Not much more I can say on the matter. Broken plays make up at least 30% of the passing game. Timing is rarely an issue. Our receivers come back to Reesing once they've finished their routes.

USF has a good defensive line (featuring the best rusher in college football), but they can only do so much to stop a pass-heavy spread.

My thoughts on the Defense so far this year:

First the Good for USF

George Selvie.  Don't let the lack of sacks fool you, the guy is very active evry play and you will need to have two guys on most plays to keep him away from the backfield.

Defensive Tackles. The DTs this year are bigger (Harris at 275, Genus at 300+ and McClain at 300+) but as active as always.  The center of the DL is no longer being pushed backwards.

Tyrone McKenzie.  He is very fast, and will finish a play.  He will stay on the field in all situations.

Nate Allen/Carlton Williams/Louis Gachette/Danny Verpaele.  The safeties are very experience and Gachette/Verpaele can drop the hammer.  Allen is always in the right place at the right time.

Not giving up yards.  Except for the last 4 minutes at UCF, the D has made tackles and stops.  To the extent the yards are being gained they are in small chunks, or on a busted play like Mike Greco's 32-yard run.

The bad for USF:

Production at DE other than Selvie.  We haven't had any.  Jarriet Buie is not getting to the QB, and his backup, Craig Marshall, appears to be more productive.  However, neither has had a sack yet.

LBs.  This is odd for this team, but Bruce Mompremier and Kion Wilson seemed a little lost out there, and Mompremier looks a step slow.  The enigma that is Chris Robinson has not done anything when he has played, albeit sparingly.

Depth at CB.  We have played a lot more zone this year, and are mostly in a nickel package.  However, the only 2 CBs you will see are Jerome Murphy and Tyler Roberts, as the 5th DB will be one of the above safeties and the backup CBs.

Lack of turnovers.  We have forced 2 turnovers this year, which is very low for this team.

Good post, I can't remember C-Rob on the field at UCF. vs Tn Martin though, he was a beast when he got in. I don't know what his story is, but it needs to get worked out. This guy is an absolute stud on the field, seems to have work ethic issues I guess.

Brouce is doing fine, I think our LB production is changing because we are running a lot of Nickle D, it's just something we fans aren't used to seeing at USF, but I don't think there is anything wrong with what Brouce is doing on the field.

Actually didn't notice Kion on the field much on Saturday, could be because he didn't do anything, or, it just seemed like we ran a lot of nickle D...which by the way, I hate.

Nate Allen needs to have a big game.  They say Verpaele is a very smart pkayer.  He'll have to show it this game.

The LBs and the safeties will need to step up to keep the intermediate passing plays in front of them.
