.....when O'Liar retires this season (or next).

USF IS THE REAL LOSER

South Florida outlasted UCiF 31-24 in overtime to win the final game between these up-and-coming programs. But because of its refusal to schedule UCiF in the future, the biggest loser in this short-lived rivalry is USF. Although these public universities sit little more than 100 miles apart in Tampa and Orlando, USF does not feel it serves its purposes to continue the series and has vowed not to play UCiF anymore.

Maybe it's time to get the Florida legislature involved to make sure that everybody understands that these universities and their football teams serve the people of the state, and those people are better-served when these two teams play football. In the 1950s, it took the political leaders of the state to force Florida to play Florida State, and it might be time for those boys to get involved again.

Perhaps it's time that the University of Florida and Florida State are forced to play USF & UCiF at home. Afteralll, since those boys don't have anything else more important to do than help schedule football games.

Bowden to UCiF has been a rumor for a few years now and people I know believe it happens after this season.  Apparenly O'Liar is having some health issues and almost stepped down before this season.

Exactly--if it's in everyone's best interest, why isn't anyone clamoring for the legislature to get involved in us playing UF or FSU on a home-and-home basis?

Oveido and Daytona Beach are only 50 miles apart. Is Bethune-Cookman a private school?

LOL.  i think Tommy Bowden is going to be looking for another job after this season no matter what happens with UCiF.

he hasn't exactly lived up to expectations at Clemsux.

as far as USF being the "real loser" by not renewing the series... how?

we have beaten them 4 years in a row.  we have series' set up with other, BETTER in-state schools.  we don't need them to recruit, we don't need them to sell out RayJay, we get nothing from beating them other than a W on the schedule that we could get from any second-rate mid-tier program, and we have quite a bit to lose by playing them if/when they eventually get lucky.

it's not our job to reach down and elevate struggling programs from wallowing in mediocrity.  nobody in Florida reached down and gave us a hand.

if the state legislature is going to get involved, they should get involved on EVERYBODY'S behalf and force the other bigger state schools to come to Tampa... but of course they'll never do that.

the comparison of the legislature getting involved with UF and FSU in the '50s is moot:  that was HALF A CENTURY ago at a time when Florida was largely undeveloped and was still building its culture, economy, education and infastructure.

that isn't the case 50+ years later, and there is no urgent need for the state of Florida to force USF to place UCF on a yearly basis for the sake of the state or the educational system.

F--- UCiF.  good riddance.

Tell Terry to convince his old man to bring the Criminoles down for a Tampa visit.  Terry's always had a big mouth, but when it comes to delivering the goods, he's suspect at best.

Distance from Orlando to Tampa - 90 miles

Gainesville to Tampa - 130 miles

Orlando to Gainesville - 114 miles

So is the legislature going to dictate that all of these schools play? I think they have better things to do....
