The only time we(the students) ever sat was during half time, and during the 4th quarter when we were kicking off or during tv timeouts

Sometimes you don't know what these cops are willing to do until someone you know experiences it...I've been tailgating with the guy who got dragged out since we were sitting in the student section and now we all have season tickets in section 125.  I moved there when I graduated because it looked like the loud section and I like standing and cheering during the game.  It seems like this always happens during the 1st game, but this year they didn't just kick him out...they took him to Orient and charged him with multiple counts, including trespassing.  Trespassing for a season ticket holder.  If you want to make an example, throw him out...but don't give him a criminal record for being a rowdy fan.  This is depressing, but I hope it gets better as the season goes on like last year.

in other words-- we're getting old

maybe... I'm just glad I'm in Row D... the guys in front of me, including mulheap, amie_abull, and swatpamike, don't stand the whole game... so this argument really doesn't affect me...

that sounds like a challenge to me.  a challenge I will be gladly accept on the night of Sept. 12th.

No, it was a compliment.  You know the kids in the row between us can't see when you stand -- even when they stand.

challenge accepted.....

last time I checked, this is college football.  in every other college stadium in the world everybody stands the entire game; offense, defense, timeouts, penalties, halftime, pregame, postgame, first downs, lightning delays, its all appropriate for standing.  if someone tells me to sit down, I'll call them old, and then I'll stand up even taller!!

Sounds good yellow shirt.  I say everyone in 125 take a "stand" by standing the whole game.  Screw the 2 or 3 crybabies that don't like it.  You stand in row B and I'll stand in row N and hopefully everyone in between will stand.

Here's a better idea. Why doesn't one of the more mature ones in your group contact Athletics and see what can be done about the situation, if not for this year, for the future. You all can *****, whine, moan and cuss all you want to but the facts are if there are some who don't want to stand the whole game in order to watch the game, you're going to get hassled by security .... and you should. Those people paid the same amount of money you did and should be allowed to watch the game from the seats designed for that purpose ...

But I thought people at other places stand all the time? I mean, USF was up 42-0 and people at USF thought they should be standing... why would the Auburn game not be a good example?

Students stand for most of the game - absolutely.  Most non-students don't stand for most of the game for every game.

We will stand for Kansas and maybe Pitt... but not Syracuse...

I was standing most of the time for the Auburn game...no one complained.

I don't think I'll ever grow up... The best show on tv currently IMO is Luke's Parental Advisory on VH-1. His goal is to teach his son how to be a player... and his daughter to be a nun.

Note to self: Find this show!!! Hahah >:D

OK, a post I made as a joke is getting out of control.  Like amie_abull said, we all get along in our little corner of 125.  No one in our group has ever been hassled (by security) for standing.  No one in our group has ever been escorted out by police.  No one in our group has ever yelled at someone, calling them an old fart/old fogie/crybaby for not standing.  No one in our group has ever pushed an officer in the chest as they were being escorted out.

I would love to stand the whole game, but I understand there are other people that can't or won't or couldn't see if I did.  They paid for thier tickets too, it's called courtesy.  If your game experience is lessened that much just because you have to sit down, I suggest you buy tickets in the last row of a section, then you can stand all game long.

Wow, I remember when this used to be a debate in the student section.

All that being said.....challenge accepted.......

I went through this same thing back when I was at USF except it was in 98 and I was trying to get the students to stand and yell shout etc.... this is pre band. But the past couple years I when I have made it to games I love seeing the student section going crazy really makes me feel we have come a long way. Now two seasons ago I stood the entire Ucon game in the east stands had no prooblem and last year for the UCF game again no problem. However I have been in lamo south endzone trying to get people hyped up there and it was like yelling to the living dead. I don't think they had their belltones turned all the way up. I too felt the evil glare of the cops when I would not sit for a big play. I also brought my son of 2 1/2 and if people were standing in front of me I held him up not on the shoulders ofcourse big no no, but most ot the time he was in his own world real youn kids don't care about what is going on in the game so he was haddy playing with his toy when peoplle would stand. That being said it does suck in the south... endzone. However, I am going to get some tickets this year in those sections and raise holy hell so you old farts better be ready to have a heart attack turn the belltone down or off or go home and eat your jello and get a good night sleep.

On another note my father who is in his mid 60's goes to every gator game and rarely sits down! That is even in club seats. and the cops never even think about taking anyone out. Go to a gator game and you will see for yourself the alumni don't sit the students don't sit. Well sometimes the alum sit but not often, if they do it is for less than 30-45 seconds. So keep your body in shape and don't eat so much you old freakin farts and get ready cause there are more of us moving to the south end!!!!!!!!!

nothing wrong with not growing up in my opinion :)

that guy sounds like my cousin who refuses to have any of his friends around when we hang out and feels I should go into a convent

meanwhile my actual brother doesn't really care much either way, though he likes that I'm friends with his friends because they're mostly overprotective of me

by the way-- I knew who you are at the game but I was kind of lost to remember your name which I learned while drinking at Jaxon's in El Paso and thought saying "jerseygirl" would seem pretty odd too.

Hey, it's cool.  I said "HEY JERSEY!" when I saw her.

I am sorry that I don't know most of you guys' "RL names".  Hey, you can call me anything you want, as long as it's not late for dinner.
