"In January 2005, Woolard announced plans for an "athletics district," which would include new stadiums for softball, baseball and soccer, a new tennis complex, new basketball practice facilities, new football practice fields and major renovations to the Sun Dome arena.

Since then, the only construction has been a new $2.79 million track, which was paid for by Hillsborough County."

Am I the only one that noticed how since 2005, when Woolard announced the athletics district plan, that USF has not built a single thing as of yet (I know the track stadium has been built, but that was built by Hillsborough county)? What is the reason for not getting started on these projects? Im going to assume lack of money, but still.

Interesting to note that since 2005, UCF has:

1) Built an on-campus 45,000 seat football stadium.

2) Built a 10,000 seat state-of-the-art Basketball Arena

3) Built Men's and Women's Basketball Practice Facilities

4) Built New Softball Stadium

5) Built new boat house/HQ for the Crew Team

6) Built new practice facility and HQ for the golf team

7) New Soccer/Track Stadium Complex should be completed later this fall/winter.

The $$$$ are out there to get things done (i.e. see Louisville, Cinci and other programs that have built new facilities for various sports over the past 4-5 years).

Vision is fine...but its dead without leadership, which is normally what it takes to get things done.

Remember...the economy was strong back in 2005-2007...and if Woolard couldn't get things built when times were GOOD...how in the world will he get anything built when times are bad?

three reasons

1) fiscal responsibility

2) we're going to do things right by building non-erector set venues

3) unlike UCF, we are confined inside our campus and must have all the puzzle pieces in place before begining

This is all great, but why didn't they install water fountains?

and yet you still have never been ranked, beaten a ranked team, and play in a watered down CUSA. Congrats.

I wouldn't trade any of our multiple national top-10 rankings or significant wins against Top-10 teams for metal bench seating.  Sorry.

Yeah, except you borrowed all your money hoping people would keep showing up to games. Now two of your revenue sports are in the toilet. Let us know how that works out for you.

Is there an athletic department in the entire country that does this much LESS, with more? Too bad your facilities don't translate to on field success--that is, afterall, the reason they are important. They haven't helped UCiF much, so they don't mean much...

Woolard has focused more on scheduling, coaching, raising funds, and communicating with alums. Obviously, he needs to more about our facilities but he will lead USF to national prominence... 8)

Does anyone know the finances involved regarding all the athletic facilities at UCF?  I over heard someone saying that they had gone into massive debt to make those facilities happen....  can anyone confirm or deny?

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
