who think we should be competing for a national championship on a yearly basis already.  Which 5 star players with 2 years of experience at the BCS level are you bringing in next year to have us competing in the top with USC, UF, OSU, etc?

What selling points are you making to get a full recruiting class of 4 and 5 star kids to come to USF given that we are recruiting against Miami, FSU and the SEC schools?

At some point the reality needs to set in that it will still take a couple of years to have a full roster of blue chip players to have us really competing at the highest national level.

Next year we will compete strongly for the BE title. It still takes time to land the top players at all positions and a few years to get them deep down the roster so we can reload when the top players graduate.  We are starting to do that at some positions like LB and defensive back.

We did not compete strongly for the BE title this year.  Extending your argument, what changes do you forsee with recruiting after our bowl performance to increase the likelyhood that we will come anywhere near a BE championship next year?  We are now in the pattern of having our sorry asses beat from one field in the BE to the other.  The only schools that we regularly beat are Pitt and Syracuse and it looks like Pitt might be coming off of life support with their stud running back (which we will likely have a hard time stopping judging by our Stewart debacle).  UCONN, Rutgars and Cincy just kill us every time we face them.

My opinion:  Fire the entire offensive staff and start over.  They have proven that they are not capable.

Huh?????  No clue what you are talking about at all.  We were a dropped Cedric Hill pass, or a TD negating phantom penalty away from from beating UCONN which would have given us the BE title.  2-1 against WVU, 2-1 vs UL.  Not sure what you were watching, but the games the last 2 years against Rutgers came down to the last plays.  The game against UC came down to the last play.  Hardly a matter of getting beaten all over the place.

What makes me think we compete for the title next year?  Easy answer....First of all, our skill positions are coming back with actually a full year of playing time.  We bring back 11 starters with significant playing experince on offense.  We bring back a defense that, if there is a dropoff, will be at least as good as 2006 team.  Bigger and probably faster up front.

The competition for the most part loses a lot of key players:

Rutgers-probably loses Rice along with 3 All American players on the line.  They also lose their best D lineman and leader, they lose their best LB, their most experienced safety and word is probably their best Safety is coming out early.  That's a lot to lose to maintain.

WVU-Loses 7 players on defense, plus Schmitt, Reynaud, and possibly Slaton (doubt White comes out)  thats a lot to lose on defense.  Plus they don't even have a coach yet.  There will be some dropoff.  We have already shown we can beat them home or away.

UC-Loses their QB, their 3 best RBs and 2 starters from their OL.  They lose 5 starters from their defense.  They have the QB coming in from ND next year I expect them to still be pretty good.

UCONN- may be pretty good.  I have not been impressed with them.  We clearly beat oursleves in that game.  They were also pretty lucky in 3 games this year.

We lost 3 games in conference this year by a total of 15 points.  With our experience coming back and with what the other teams are losing we are in the best shape we have ever had to compete for the BE.

It is clear this DouBull guy is just talking out of his ass. Maybe he is just disgruntled, maybe he is just flamming. Either way, just ignore him and the others on here and lets give this board a week or so to return to normalcy.

Honestly, I swear at times there must be another set of games other people are watching, in some sort of Bizarro World ...... "UCONN, Rutgars and Cincy just kill us every time we face them"?? Do you mean in basketball?

We competed strongly for the BE title and at one point were the odds on favorite. In my opinion, we had a program best season capped with a poor performance. Anyone who says they are disappointed by this season really isn't looking at the big picture. Sure, we ended on a pretty bad note, but managed to make a name for ourselves nationally throughout the first half of the season. We didn't go to the pizza bowl. USF, a team with 11 years of history, went to a bowl with 74 years of history. I didn't make it to the bowl game for a few reasons, but I appreciate everyone who spent their hard earned money to go, because regardless of outcome, we hopefully showed that we'll follow our team to a bowl. That in itself will help our future bowl bids (feel free to shoot out with the "this loss will hurt our bowl bids" I understand that arguement too). Its over. We got routed. Hopefully we learned from our mistakes this year and can make an adjustment for the next time we play a non C-USA team in our bowl game.

Happy New Years all, GO BULLS!

Rutgers and Cincy have beaten us each of the last two years.  UCONN has beat us the last two times that we have played at UCONN.  Maybe they don't beat us by a lot of points but our losses to these temas have killed our seasons.

So they haven't killed us every time we played them ..... There is enough to complain about right now that one doesn't need to go making up ****.
