per this morning's SPiT, "ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?: The new stadium could also hold about 35,000 fans for football, and the Rays have had some preliminary talks with officials of the Big East Conference about establishing a bowl game."

Thoughts?

35000? for a bowl game.  they would have to either add seats or make this a lower seed bowl.

Heck, we had over 35k for Elon..  No way this could support a BE bowl game...  People want to come to Florida and if USF were in the bowl game, it would be at least 25k - 35k short of available seats...

We sold out Ray Jay for some decent home games.  Give away tickets to sponsors, media, etc, and then offer soem seats up to the opposing school and Ray Jay isn't big enough...

I'd rather put a BE bowl after the first (or before) in RJS.

I just don't see how you could configure this for a football game.

I thought Tropicana would be a little weird for a bowl game.  This new stadium is only a fraction of the size of Tropicana.  35k is REALLY small for a bowl game.  If we were playing in it we'd have 35k alone, not to mention the other team's fans and just locals that want to watch a college football game.

That new stadium would be the perfect size for the PapajohnsPersonalPanPizza.com Bowl.

if St Pete was to have a Bowl game I dont see USF going to many of them. Bowl games are more about people traveling to the City and Spending money than it is about ticket sales. USF fans would drive over tailgate, watch the game, and drive back. We would not spend a boat load of money in St Pete

I imagine if an additional Bowl was added it'd be a lower tier bowl given the limited size.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
