USF or South Florida???

USF.  Don't mind South Florida, but it bothers me when I see them put SFLA,SoFLA, SF, S.Florida or anything like that, put USF.

Also, I don't see UCF having any problem being referred to as UCF, why is that.  I noticed some outlets had saturday's game as S. Florida vs. UCF.

If they are trying to market USF as a name, they are not doing a very good job.

I prefer it being called South Florida, but i think it looks stupid when our score is up as So FLA or SOFL or something like that. Id rather it say USF when our games are listed or our scores are listed but call us South Florida.

The last thing id want to do is go on some stupid campain like UCF went on. Now they are listed as UCF, called UCF, and 90% of the country has no idea what that means. Get our name established first, then call us USF.

Random Thoughts...

1. I think I actually read that they prefer Southern California.

2. North Carolina and South Carolina aren't actually directional - see, there are two different states.

3. I like either one, keep winning and everyone will know us either way.

I tend to go with USF when I am talking to people that know I went there, know I am a fan. If a random person asks me where I went to school, I give them the ol' South Florida.

If you were going to look at the state of Florida. You could cut a horizontal line though it, and you will see that Tampa is in the Southern half of the state of Florida. South Florida sounds tougher to me. Who cares about what they say about directional schools. It has not stopped Southern Cal from winning. It has not stopped South Florida from being ranked in the BCS top 2.

I'm still a big proponent of changing the name from University of South Florida to University of Florida at Tampa.  Think about it, it's more accurate, it sounds better, it takes out the "regional" moniker, and it gives us instant credibility for being associated with the Gators.
