I just hope we bring our A game Saturday. UCF will not be an easy game. With our porous D up the middle, we need to stop the rb who leads the nation in rushing. We need to be pumped and ready for this game. I sure do hope it's not the performance shown @FAU. Special teams need to step it up a whole hell of a lot more. And I hope Grothe and the reciever corps worked overtime in passing and catching. All in all, we need to step it up...not just for this game, but for everyone now!!!  Reaper

Don't give that guy props, Mike Hart leads the nation in rushing.

well, we have to stop Mike Hart, too!

UCF: You know, you should continue play us. I mean, we almost beat Texas, we're no slouch ourselves.

USF: Don't sell yourself short UCF, you're a tremendous slouch.

With appologies to Caddyshack.

Come on!!  That was funny!!  >:(

as many holes as we have in the middle, and as much as a power/downhill running game is the way to beat a lateral defense based on speed like ours, i'm not sure Kevin Smith is quite that kind of back... he's certainly not as stocky and powerful as Ray Rice.

24K is a slasher who runs downhill, no doubt.  but i'm not quite sure he's a power back that can ram it down our throats for 30-35 carries and 150 yards, especially with that tender shoulder.  and even if he does, 150 rushing yards is not going to be enough to get it done (barring some phenomenal special teams plays or defensive takeaways that result in good field position or scores the other way), so UCiF is going to need something thru the air to make it a game.

which brings up another point... Mike Teel is an infinitely better QB than the doubleheaded sh-tsucker Greco-Israel, so we will be much more limited in our ability to stack the box against Rutgers than we will be against UCiF. Rutgers should be better equipped to keep our defense honest with a much better passing game.

that said... UCiF is definetely a good primer for what we're gonna see in Piscataway. 24K isn't Ray Rice's long lost grid-iron twin, but he's certainly closer than anyone else we've seen all season.

i also agree that they're no slouch, especially when it comes to USF.  they're gonna come into this game wanting it more than any other game in the history of their program. this is their season.  they are desperate for a win over a ranked BCS team, and they need a win if they want to keep hope alive for a 2-2 series split with the Bulls.

our guys just need to learn to bring their A-game every game, and get past the "playing to the competition" tendency that has seen us step our game up when it comes to Auburn and WVU, and crank it down when it comes to Elon and FAU.

When did Mike Teel become Joe Montana... That guy is average at best; he basically lost the game to the Bearcats because he does not make good reads.  He led the country in passer efficiency through the first few weeks do to horrible competition.  Now when comparing him to the merry go round 80 miles to our East I guess he is better, but not by much.  The next two games are all will.. If we win the battle at the line of scrimage we win both games.  Not rocket science, the exact opposite actually, we have to hit both teams in their mouths.

We need to be careful not to give up the big play while stacking the box. Somebody misses a tackle Silent bob is into the secondary with a big gain and only 3 people to bring him down. I'm nervous about it. If we play like we did Sat against FAU we could be in trouble.

whoa whoa whoa.. slow down skippy.

u don't have to be Joe Montana to be better than Kyle freakin Israel.  i'd take Pat Julmiste over Kyle Israel.

Teel = 1507 yards, 10 TD, 5 INT, 61.2%, 168.77

Israel = 825 yards, 5 TD, 3 INT, 53.2%, 117.58

Teel has double the yards, double the TDs, better TD/INT ratio, better completion percentage, etc.

sure, Teel has played some cupcakes and struggled against a tough Cinci defense... but Israel's competition hasn't been all that tough either.  matter of fact, if i wanted to boost my stats i'd take Texas and NCState over Cinci and MD any day.

but feel free to think what u want.  if it helps u sleep better at night to believe that Teel isn't infinitely more capable of sustaining a pass game than Israel, u go ahead and do that.  the numbers speak for themselves against fairly comparable opponents.

better or worse i don't know.... but i would be willing to bet USF doesn't play as lethargic at RayJay with the thunder of a sold out home crowd behind them as they did against the backdrop of that high school field hockey stadium down in Lauderdale.

it was hard for the FANS to get excited down there, nevermind the players. that sh-t was pathetic.

mike hart leads in total yardage but kevin smith has more yards per game.

anyways,

one of the biggest problems we had at FAU was POOR tacklings.  Our games were in the right places just too many missed tackles.  the only thing i think we need to change assignment wise is to make sure that the backside LBs don't over persue and blow the contain.  if you look at most of FAU's big runs they were on counters where our LBs were too aggresive, with exception to the their fullbacks big runs.

How many times did we blitz against FAU? I thought I counted once.
