crazy attendence numbers for UCF

read this on gregs blog through the sentinel.  Would like to know our numbers.  I'm not starting anything, so no more UCF threads, but it is interesting.

- Really interesting story in the Orlando Sentinel today, comparing the announced attendance for Orlando teams with the actual turnstile count. Check out the UCF data in the chart the Sentinel ran -- the difference between actual and announced was never more than 15 percent from 2002 to 2004, then went to 19.6 percent in 2005 and an impressive 43.2 percent last season.

Don't get me wrong, it would be great, but I have a feeling that Orlando is not the only place that does this.  Again I would love to see Tampa's, especially USF's numbers and (more importantly) our percentages.  It is odd that percentages jumped that high in the past few years.  I wonder what was/is going on?

The fact that USF, as most places, reported paid attendance as opposed to "butts in seats" is not at issue.  We have done that and said that was the way we did it.  Some of those east of here have said/typed some pretty denigrating things about our attendance and been pretty obnoxious about the "fact" that they only reported "butts in seats".  But for the constant harping by the easterners this would not be a big issue even now.

Every time UCF has said stupid argument this I've always answered that EVERY sport goes by turnstyle of actual, including them. NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, College Sports. There is no regulated stat for attendance and in most cases it's just a made up number that is nothing more than a guesstimate by taking the season ticket based and projected walkup sales.

USF's average was around 25,000 last year in turnstyle attendance.
