exactly, thats why its such a crap shoot and rankings really dont mean anything.

its the best system available thats why it gets so much attention.  and those services try their best, but at the end of the day, there is just so many student athletes and so little time.  so they just go with what will make them the most money, and that is keeping the high dollar/high membership team's recruiting information interesting and exciting.

you cant really blame them, after all, it is a BUSINESS>

top ten recruting teams are in hunt for NC year after year

teams that recruit 4th or 5th in their conference(50s overall) are usually not in the hunt for much

NFL teams spend millions of dollars evaluating talent and don't always do that well at it (Ryan Leaf, Heath Shuler, Rick Mirer, Andre Ware, David Klingler, Kerry Collins, etc).  The 5 stars are easy, as are the high 4 stars.  What are the odds that a college team can properly evaluate and select a full class from the rest? How can a recruiting service accurately rank them?

at times nfl scouts  look at physical attributes more than performance

For the most part the recruiting rankings are BS.  Come back in 2 years and see how the recruits develop.  If recruiting stars and rankings translated to play on the field in every case Pitt should have ran away with the BE the last 2 years.  Miami and FSU should never have a falloff year for any reason.

Each year we are getting better, bigger and faster athletes.  We are getting there and we aren't far away.

You must be mistaken.  Smazza says we aren't keeping up with the Big 3, and says the rankings are accurate.  If you are correct, smazza is mistaken.  That can't be true.

You must be mistaken.  Smazza says we aren't keeping up with the Big 3, and says the rankings are accurate.  If you are correct, smazza is mistaken.  That can't be true.

I stumbled on this recruiting article about Illinois and Ron Zook and I loved this quote.  It is from..." Martez Wilson, who is ranked among the top 10 prospects in the nation by some recruiting services..."

''I like this dude,'' Wilson said while explaining his reasons for choosing Illinois over USC, Notre Dame and Michigan. ''He wasn't an uptight white coach.''

I would be curious after signing day what the recruits at USF think about Leavitt.    If you are a recruit is he perceived as "an uptight white coach"?
