Smith, who was the lowest paid offensive coordinator in the BCS making $106,000, is expected to receive a comparable salary at WVU as quarterbacks coach.

This needs to change ASAP or we will continue to lose quality coaches.

Where did the coaches that Frey and Smith are replacing go to? It may be in the articles but I missed it...

And the offensive line coach FROM wvu that was "bought" by FSU is making something like $400,000 per year. Pretty good change for a position coach!

Over and over I keep hearing that CJL is a tough man to work for... But he's the boss, so you can either take it or "Leavitt"...  ;)

Well said  ;)

Guest Ari_Hinkelberger

I have heard he is hard to work for too.

I don't really care.  I am sure the CEO of Goldman Sach's is tough to work for too.

I bet the head of Wal-Mart is tough on his execs too.

What will change over time is their compensation -- which doesn't allow CJL to get away with the tough love that he probably lends now adays.

So -- you got coaches being worked like dogs and underpaid.

Never a good combo -- but that will change.

Our WR coach became Head Coach at Central Michigan.

Our OL coach/Associate HC became OL coach at FSU.

Our TE coach/recruiting coordinator became co-offensive coordinator at Tulsa.

Current QB coach/ST coordinator Bill Stewart is keeping the ST duties, plus he'll coach TE's and become Associate HC.

Cornerback coach adding recruiting coordinator duties.

Still need a WR coach. We've reportedly offered an awesome coach/recruiter but he might end up on the new Steelers staff.

central michigan coach that won 2 bowl games and went to cincy replaced by WVU's WR coach.  odd.  was the TE coach decent because it seems he could have held out for a better position than co-oc at a mediocre school?  btw, I hate WVU, heh.

Tulsa is not a bad job!

They can dominate cusa and this will get an OC noticed by the big boys.

and OC is better stepping stone for HC job!

a friend of Coach Frey told me today that CJL did NOT offer to match the offer........in Frey's words to his friend-"that is a lie, Coach never offered to match it he only talked about how higher cost of living up there equals it out.
