New topic, so I don't have to keep posting it.   ;)

According to this article by Greg Auman:

http://www.sptimes.com/2007/01/23/Sports/Two_top_offensive_ass.shtml

Leavitt said he'd told Smith and Frey he'd match the offers.

So they did NOT leave for the money!

Smith, who was the lowest paid offensive coordinator in the BCS making $106,000, is expected to receive a comparable salary at WVU as quarterbacks coach.

"I hope recruits see this is something happening all over college football," Leavitt said. "The one thing they can count is Jim Leavitt's not leaving South Florida. I know you hear that from a lot of coaches, but I mean it when I say that."

Coach Leavitt demands long, long hours, and that can wear on coaches.

Assistant Coaches all want to be head coaches at some point.  The move was probably more about their futures than the money.  They will get different exposure with their new teams - and meet new coaches... it's a little bit of networking, a little bit of learning, and a little bit of looking for new challenges.

I wish them luck, in every game except those against USF.

Over and over I keep hearing that CJL is a tough man to work for... But he's the boss, so you can either take it or "Leavitt"...  ;)

It's not only with up and coming programs.  Asst. coaches leave from successful programs all the time.  It's the nature of the business.
