Bowl games are mini-vacations, and the ideal vacation is a tourist destination.

Miami falls into that category, something other cities/bowls do not.

I'd hope to get about 10K through the turnstiles. I'm not sure how many

band-wagon fans would actually attend a bowl game, regardless of opponent.

OH WAIT... A PLACE TO USE MY CANNED RESPONSE TO A TRAVELING THREAD!

I'm tired of talking about attendance and traveling. We all know it is important. We shouldn't be debating how many we can bring or why people don't go. We should be coming up with ideas to get more people involved in USF Football. Posters, flyers, watch parties... I know we do some of these things and we expect the Alum. Assoc. and administration to do these things. The bottom line is we need to kick it into another gear. How about this--drag 2 people for every one Bulliever to every event (watch party, pregame, WHATEVER) next season! If you get people's feet in the door, they will believe. Trust me, I brought an Illinois fan, a Penn State fan, and a couple MTSU fans to a couple tailgates this season and now they love da Bulls (and beer).

I also think 10K is a realistic expectation....Not only is it a BCS bowl in a "vacation destination" but the Orange Bowl actually has many well organized activities to attend in conjunction with the game and a half-time show that goes well beyond what the lower-level bowls have.

Sure, it will cost much more than the Pizza.Com but it's not Christmas Eve, eve; It's not in Birmingham;  it's less than half the distance to Birmingham;  there are more flights into and out of Miami;  the climate is better: there's a hell of a lot more to do there than in city like B'ham; and it is a BCS bowl.

I'd say somewhere between 12,000 and 15,000 would be great by next year's timeframe.

By the way thanks Chickie.  I think you were the cheerleader that helped my niece get all of the other cheerleader's signatures on that Papa Johns frisbee during the send off last week.  She really loves that frisbee now.   :)

Well, January 8th is laundry day at most people's house. As we all know, that's very important, and a bowl game that is SO far away would be very inconvenient. Especially if you want to get home in time for the Gators ga--- i mean, for dinner.

USF in a BCS bowl will sell its allotment of tickets. No problem.

. . . how many is it though ?

I know for a BCS game, it would be against a "name" team and I could get a few buddy's to make the trip with me. I am sure many of us would have the same success.

I brought nearly 8 to the UCF game  8-)

This may have been a mistake to post with gnats lurking.  ;D

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
