They only bring up the close game forgetting that USF destroyed them 2 other times. :Dhttp://209.9.232.72/message_board/banter/2006/November/26/118176.php

Greenville is a horrible town.  To think that they deserve to be in the Big East over us is a joke.  They should beat USF once before they should say such a thing.

Perspective people...  We did beat a big boy!  However we did lose to kansas and cincy.....  Somebody on this board said it best:   Let's beat wvu on national tv and then have a winnable bowl game against a weaker opponent.. (somebody said this at least a week ago...)  8-4 is a great year and when we whip ecu it will launch us into next year... I can't believe we are even talking about who we play... If you want a reason to be grateful and thankful just look to our neighbors to the east and their 4-8 record... This thing will not happen over night and we should be happy that the steps are still going in the right direction.. A 9-4 season with matt going crazy in a bowl game will be better than what happened in last year's bowl!

Well said, T-man. Let's get this bowl game in our pocket and start focusing on what could very well be our best recruiting class yet.

It just sucks that NO ONE is gonna care about our bowl game... >:(

It does indeed, but my point is that we have no control . . . it's the system.

And as Jim explained, I agree with what he said about traveling.

We need to win big and hope more of these casual fans of the other schools jump on board . . .

Winning cures ALL . . . and I am planning on winning the Bowl Game BIG and then start the season(2007) 5-0  8-)

One game at  time E.T.  :-X

I think we all know that playing in the B'ham Bowl gets us a lame C-USA opponent. What sort of stinks about ECU is that we have already beaten them 3 times. It would be nice to face someone we havn't faced before or a team we have somewhat of a rivalry with. But as has been said....it is what it is...so we should just be happy we are bowling. Here's to beating ECU a 4th time.

Thang is, sportsfans, 'bout half the teams in IA play post-season bowl games.

What that translates to is playing games that - BCS Bowls aside - are 'events',

entertainment, chamber of commerce endevors.  Nobody remembers who

beat who in the '94 Alamo Bowl...because unless you're a Baylor or Washington

State alum...probably didn't garner that much interest.

Same rule applies here. It's an opportunity for both USF and [insert whoeverwe wind up playing here] to squeeze in another months' practice, bang out

another road game (a USF win hopefully). The bowls are what they are. Once

you're outside of a BCS game, I think it really boils down to how many people

can I get to travel to [insert city here] and drop some coins. At this point, it

doesn't matter if it's SoMiss or ECU. The point is, the folks in Birmingham are

hoping this bowl is a success (commercially).

Here's to beating ECU a 4th time.

Yep.

Man, will we ever learn.  Sure, we beat WVU yeesterday, but we are not good enough to take ANY team for granted.  We better be ready to play against ECU or anyone else we play or we will look silly.  College football is 60% emotions.  If we are thinking, yuck what a crummy matchup, and ECU is thinking, finally we can get revenge, well I don't want to think about what might happen.

Here's to hoping our coaches and players respect whoever we play.  It's kind of funny that some posters on this message board are complaining about the lack of respect that people are showing us after beating WVU while at the same time we show absolutely no respect for ECU.  That's a dangerous attitude to take folks.  Beware.

Maybe lots of teams play in bowl games, but it is still a privilege to be in one.  Ask the fans of teams that are not going to bowl games if they are going to enjoy the off season very much.  My family and I will be in B'ham in full Bull regalia and I will be rooting the Bulls mightily.  I will not disrespect our opponent no matter who they are.
