From Greg'g blog:

I'll have more football here on Wednesday, but I wanted to add a recruiting note -- South Sumter coach Inman Sherman, who has sent running back Clenton Crossley and linebackers Ben Moffitt and Sam Miller to USF in recent years, told me over the weekend that fullback Richard Kelly, 6 feet and 240 pounds, is "leaning heavily" toward accepting a scholarship offer from USF. Kelly would bring size that USF doesn't have in its current backfield, and Sherman says his blocking and pass-catching abilities are as good as his running skills. He's getting continued interest from Florida, Alabama, Misssissippi and Tennessee, but Florida hasn't offered and there's a strong desire to stay close to home, making him a high possibility to commit to USF. None of Sherman's kids will set up any official visits until they're done in the playoffs, and South Sumter is 8-1 and has already locked up a district title ...

He's a huge kid with a real low to the ground running style.  He would be perfect for short yardage and goal line situations.

Looks like great news from Brett's blog:

South Sumter senior RB Richard Kelly verbally committed to USF Sunday. Kelly (6-0, 240) still plans to visit Florida State and Ole Miss, but said he’s “90 percent†set on USF.

“Most likely, I’ll go to the Bulls,†Kelly said. “It’s close to home and they play in Raymond James Stadium. The coaches said depending on how hard I work, that I would get a chance to start at running back.â€Â

Kelly rushed for 1,100 yards as a senior, including 174 yards and four TDs in South Sumter’s Class 2A region semifinal against Keystone Heights on Nov. 10.

“He’s a great fit for USF,†South Sumter coach Inman Sherman said.

Kelly said he will visit FSU Jan. 18 and will reschedule his visit to Ole Miss. Kelly is USF’s second running back commitment in the past few days joining Boca Ciega RB Josh Bellamy. Bellamy was going to visit Western Michigan last weekend, but he said his flight was cancelled by a snow storm up north. “I guess that’s a sign,â€Â

Great pick up.  He'll be a great blocker for Noel Devine.  ;)

I'm sure Plancher will have no problems running behind that guy.

So is this a sign that we are going to see some more I formation sets in the future?  I just dont see how a FB really fits in our current offense.  Any chance this kids plays other another position and will be used there.
