or do you think we get something from this???  So that we don't take anything for granted against other teams, or are we just that weak and got exposed?  Or FIU just that talented?  or combo of all or some of  these things.  Or is it the players that we are missing from suspensions?

It may be that we looked at UCF and not FIU this week.

My guess is that WE NEED A LOT OF WORK STILL.

Ponton?

The win was ugly, but we got away with one.  I think the positives you have to look at is the growth of the young guys from the first half to the second.  no stupid mistakes the second half.  We seem to have a QB that somehow finds a way to make plays.  He is a winner.  Getting Ponton back (hopefully next week will be huge).  Just like last year we coudn't win consistently with just a running game, we can't win just throwing the ball.  We need a balanced offense to be effective against better teams.

The good news is we are where we expected to be.  the young guys have some experience under their belt.  Now we just need to cut out the freaking penalties.

My only fear for this team is thae kicking game will do us in.  I don't care if it is because of bad snaps or whatever, Benzer has yet to make a field goal in college.  That scares me.  Alvarado made a nice kick to get us out of bad field position on his last kick.  That was clutch.

Bottom line, we are young and but it looks like extremely talented.

Definitely dissapointed in the loss...don't take it too hard, FIU is no joke in football anymore. This is now the 2nd game in a row we've lost because of our kicker, might be 2-0 right now if not for him. I cannot even begin to count how may games we've lost by 3 points or less in the last 2 years.

You got a good young QB and solid defense, you'll still make some noise.

We had a very good kicker that graduated. Poor job recruiting a kicker landed us with our current kicker who is an all-purpose type player...he played WR for us last year.

He offered him a scholarship.  His parents moved to Texas so he transferred.

No explanation about a punter.

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
