Im with you on this one Puc...We interview ONE candidate, just one, and we have our mind set...This is a bunch of BS...I respected DW, but now Im not so sure...Im not saying this guy isnt a good hire, maybe he is, but would it hurt to maybe interview just ONE other person, just maybe you could find something better, again welcome to mediocrity...Ohhh and since most of you never paid any attention to Baseball until good ole McMurphy's article came out, you wouldnt know that  Cardieri beat this guy 2 out of 3 times this year...but again, he brings in millions of dollars, this and that, well look who signs those checks, Prados cousin Tino Martinez...but keep on congratulating him...this is just freaking ridiculous...

What......we didn't sign Joe Torre, Tommy Lasorda or Casey Stengel?

D@mn that Woolard? What is he thinking?

Geeze.....this was a great hire. We bring in a coach that has coached kids at the highest levels and knows the area's high schools like the back of his hand.

I bet some of you would have booed Leavitt's hiring 11 years ago b/c you probably never heard of him and would have campaigned for the couple 'name' coaches (if you wanted to call them that) that applied for the job.

BTW....this just in....we still have to fix the stadium problem.

The job he's done in Louisville is very good. I posted it in the other thread Louisville's 3 years before he got there never had more than 17 wins and lost around 40 a season.

The program itself didn't have a true home facility from 96-04

AND This:

AND

Derby Field, home of St. Xavier High School

Your not drawing very good players in venues like that...Anyone who can put up those types of seasons with venues like and in an area where college baseball struggles, will probably be favorable in better conditions.

It's the same reason why Louisville football was a complete joke for many years (they played at the top ballpark)...

It is very apparent that many of you do not follow college baseball much, and it seems those people are the ones who disagree with the hire. Northern College Baseball is like Southern College Hockey, it's not very successful.

To put together a program that could compete in the C-USA (mind you this was a top 3 college baseball league when we were in it), when the location most C-USA schools had (being mostly southern schools), and the facilities Louisville was working with (bar none some of the worst in the country) is VERY FREAKING HARD.

So lay off the mediocrity angle, heck the guy was a Team USA coach in 2002, he won 2 titles at UT (thats 1 more than Urso), and has recruited Florida well while at Louisville.

Had he come from a southern school with nice facilities you'd have an argument. However, many of you are arguing without having the slightest clue of what you are arguing about.

No, what I am saying is there were plenty of applicants that had applied that should have been at least warrented an interview, Im not a moron that thinks we should have some big name coach or something, but why would we not interview anyone else?? AGAIN, Im not saying this guy isnt a good hire, he probablly is, but I hope we didnt jump the gun and pass on someone greater...

Although I would have prefered if USF had interviewed more than one candidate, Prado is now a Bull and I will support the him and the team as long as they are progressing and putting a winning product on the field.

Are you sure we only interviewed one person?  Didn't see that in the story.

McMurphy mentioned him as the only person, if there was more than one person interviewed, then I will take back all that I said, bc then I believe we did look elsewhere and clearly DW has made a good decision...

The article doesn't say he was the only one interviewed.
