It could be an exciting time for USF baseball.

Question: Why did UL let him sign at USF without a fight? Were they about to let him go anyway?

For the reasons rehashed several times. If you can get a job in the south, you take it, it's a virtual goldmine in many cases.

And once again... what makes you think this was the first nugget?  That doesn't seem to be the case.

Did you read the Tribune and Times?   Jurich had said if it was any other job other than USF he would have fought like hell to keep him.  But Lelo never moved his family to Louisville (they stayed in Tampa), and he knew about Tino, and all the local connections Lelo had plus his love for Tampa.

Translation- Jurich has come to respect Lelo, and realized that his heart really lies in Tampa and it would be unfair to prevent him from taking an opportunity there and further his relationship with USF is too strong to jeopardize.
