Correct. At some point (and we may already be getting close), the number of people using streaming apps will be higher than the number of people on cable. At that point it's going to be a matter of people actually paying for your streaming platform rather than being roped in by carriage fees on channels they don't watch. It's not out of the question. Disney bought out Comcast Universal last fall... so now it's 100% owned by Disney, and since Fox licenses Fox shows to Hulu -- and Fox owns Tubi, but they have not put a lot of sports programming on it. There are estimates that subscriber base for cable will be less than 50 million households by the end of the decade... at some point A LOT of cable networks are going to fold into their parent corporations' streaming services and the volume of programming will decrease. Prime doesn't create panderverses. They make good content and leave it at that. 2 minutes ago, Jim Johnson said: There are estimates that subscriber base for cable will be less than 50 million households by the end of the decade... at some point A LOT of cable networks are going to fold into their parent corporations' streaming services and the volume of programming will decrease. I am sure they will lobby congress to make streamer subscriptions pay broadcast views and congress will vote yes so they get kick backs and campaign donations they can use to buy anything .

Well, "streaming" services like Sling, Hulu Live, YouTubeTV already pay "carriage fees". In this way, are cable companies. The other services are "a la carte" ... not sure what Congress could do to make Netflix pay ESPN if there is no ESPN content (live or otherwise) on Netflix.

Sure seems to open the door for exclusive Apple TV sports content similar to ESPN and ESPN+.
