New rules are going to hurt the triple option so much Army is moving away from it. Navy replaced one of their best coaches in recent memory but keeping it

Not familiar with the rule change but most media members are talking like Navy are idiots for trying to keep it so feel better about our game vs them

If USF is 3-2 after that Navy game, I like the chances of a Bowi game

And since you mentioned it, the only two bowl games I traveled to were Meineke Charlotte  x NCSU back in '05 and Brut/Sun El Paso x Oregon in '07.  @bullsmania & I attended the St. Petersburg bowl just to see a football field wedged into Tropicana Field.  Charlotte is where the relatives are encamped, and El Paso was the 'biggest' bowl game to date. @E.T. , @LakeBull (I think) attended some sort of senior bowl sort of game in Orlando once back when Huey Whittaker was playing.

We - the Mrs. & I - have always said we'd head to another bowl game of merit, when it rolls around. Not being rude, or anything, but the list of current options are - just sayin' - not exactly engaging travel destinations and the opponents are not very engaging either (that's just opinion, still waiting on a big P5 option before using my Southwest air miles).😎

Ha! That St. Pete bowl was hilarious.  We didn't even stick around.  I think we walked around more than we watched the game.  Just couldn't get into watching football in that venue.  Good times Dean!

If my old memory serves, we were giving serious consideration to heading down to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Cash Incinerator upon departure.  It was truly strange to see what appeared to be a football field wedged in at an angle at the Trop.

It's an annual tradition to work my expectations up super high only in July/August to be let down during the season.

Let's keep that tradition going. Looking ahead at the AAC bowl tie ins.

Which one are you buying tickets for? I like a NY6 bowl (all at large, highest G5 gets an auto-bid) most but an ACC or MWC matchup would do just fine.

Dec. 16 - Cure Bowl: Group of Five vs. Group of Five, Orlando, Fla., ABC, 3:30 p.m.

Dec. 19 - Frisco Bowl: Group of Five vs. Group of Five, Frisco, Texas, ESPN, 9 p.m.

Dec. 21 - Boca Raton Bowl: Group of Five vs. Group of Five, Boca Raton, Fla., ESPN, 8 p.m.

Dec. 22 - Gasparilla Bowl: ACC/American/SEC, Tampa, Fla., ESPN, 6:30 p.m.

Dec. 23 - Birmingham Bowl: ACC/American/SEC, Birmingham, Ala., ABC, noon

Dec. 23 - Armed Forces Bowl: American vs. Conference USA, Fort Worth, Texas, ABC, 3:30 p.m.

Dec. 23 - Hawaii Bowl: Americanvs. Mountain West, Honolulu, ESPN, 10:30 p.m.

Dec. 27 - Military Bowl: ACC vs. American, Annapolis, Md., ESPN, 2 p.m.

Dec. 28 - Fenway Bowl: ACC vs. American, Boston, ESPN, 11 a.m.

If USF made it to any of these I'd go. But my ranking goes like this if we don't make an NY6

1. Hawaii Bowl-I can probably rope a bunch of my Japanese friends into flying over to Hawaii-it's not as expensive for them as to fly to the US Mainland. I think my family would make that trip too for vacation. Plus maybe we can do a Luau tailgate?

2. Armed Forces Bowl-My sister and her husband live in the DFW area and would love to take them to a game plus it would be a fun tailgate.

3. Fenway bowl-same as AF bowl, but it's my brother and his wife who live up in Boston. Plus it would be a ton of fun watching a football game at Fenway park.

4. Frisco Bowl-same reasons as above

5. Birmingham Bowl-I've somehow never been despite us going there three times. Would be great to face an SEC team even a bad one.

6. Military Bowl-same, plus I've never been to Annapolis. Downside is weather isn't amazing and I don't have a ton of connections to the area.

7. Gasparilla Bowl-would be good if we won since you can continue to sell the home team aspect after a decent season.

8. Cure Bowl-would be good for Orlando recruiting plus if UCF has a bad season, we probably can intrude into their recruiting grounds a bit.

9. Boca Raton Bowl-this is the one game I don't really like at all. If we beat FAU we already own the head-to-head in recruiting. I've never really considered Boca Raton as all that different a destination from Sarasota-and it's significantly further from Tampa especially given there's no fast highway connection from Tampa-you have to go out to East Orlando and then take the Turnpike south.

We also get UConn which WeConn win

Most people haven't noticed but we're actually riding an 8 game win streak against UConn (2012 to 2019). They won a lot against a weak schedule last year. If they aren't returning production it's much more in our favor than people think.

Because of my donor status, I got the privilege of front-row seats, which pretty much meant we couldn't see the field over the players on the sideline.  The most entertaining part of that game for me was watching my friend's young son, hopped up on cotton candy and soda, going crazy and flirting with our cheerleaders.

The rules against cut blocking outside the tackle box and beyond the line of scrimmage make the triple option much harder to operate.
