So much like a local.  Pretends that when the Bulls were doing well they did their jobs.  Instead of taking the feedback a punch to the nuts by the local.  Rick Stroud Post:

Shots fired!  We need our Orlando newspaper unit to flank him.

Hey jackass, what about looking at it this way instead?

"when you play in the AAC TAMPA ..."

Also a major employer and factor in the culture.  Oh well.

I guess what he’s saying is - USF is horrible, so we (the Times) can be horrible with our coverage, too. When they’re good, we’ll be good, too - maybe.

That’s a solid business philosophy.

The thing is, Rick’s been around a long time and does a good job. I’ve listened to his podcast and he does a decent job including USF in the conversation. Instead of sticking up blindly for his younger colleagues, he should be mentoring them and demanding that they do better.

I think feel threatened that some journalist graduates from the AAU status USF are coming for their jobs. They need to attack USF at all cost and control the narrative.

Rick can go back to irrelevancy now that he can't leech off Brady's fame. Not being biased is the lazy fall back excuse to kick the school any chance they get.

The Bucs are one of the worst franchises in the history of American sports. USF hasn't been to the very top, but have a better winning percentage than the Bucs.

Have you read some of the Oracle's hit-piece columns about the OCS? They're probably looking forward to some USF grads working at the Times.

No i don't read the times or chose not to give them money. I only read what people post here. Why would I pay a newspaper money in 2023? Why would I give my money to a newspaper that  does not support the local college USF is basically pro every other public university over US?F

More proof about the Times’ position on USF football: One of the first - if not the first - opinion pieces on USF football published by the Times way back in 1995-96 was by their primary sports columnist at the time, Hubert Mizell, writing about what a horrible idea it was for USF to launch a football program. I should know. I was the copy editor on the sports desk that night assigned to give it the first read. I guess some naysayers might argue today that he was right, but he certainly wasn’t for the better part of the first two decades of the program.

Dave, is that article around anywhere? Would be an interesting read .....
