On the not so impressive side of things, Enfield burst onto the scene at FGCU...I'd say most would say he's a quality guy, but the results haven't been quite as exciting as the one year at FGCU.  By USC standards... maybe smazza disagrees.

You'd have to support an alum, but if there wasn't a USF connection, would ANYONE not want to get the pitchforks out with that type of hire? Cups of coffee as an assistant at FIU, Stetson and Georgia Southern - and the last six years as an assistant in California? That's your new head coach?  The first job for a guy with that resume is at Stetson or Cal Poly or Marist NOT at South Florida.

Yes, I am both a USF and Stetson alum, and if he was hired at Stetson I would be happy ( although Stetson had a good year this year), but not at USF. Not for a team that has Power 5 ambitions. Too risky. The next 2-5 years could very well decide what conference we belong to. If there is ever a time to go with a proven winner. it is now.

And what you hear less of these days with the urgency to win is "give him a few years to get his guys in, you can't expect much until then" was laughable then and is extremely hilarious now.  If you can coach, you can coach.  We need someone that can coach, not learn how to or only coach a specific style of player or game.

Tom Crean would not be a good hire in my opinion. Had an amazing career but I cannot look past  his most recent 4 years at Georgia, and his .208 record in the SEC.

Odom would be a much better option
