Nobody’s questioning that.  The question is what’s the cut line going to be for wins for MK.

Blowing a 14 point lead at home to Wichita State

So it doesn’t matter what happens the rest of the year for you, I get it. Again, the interesting question is what’s that line for Kelly.

He needs to be .500 minimum in the conference to even consider keeping him and I don't see it.  This isn't a new thing.  We have blown 2nd half leads continuously during his tenure.   That loss to Wichita State should have cost him his job there and then.  I've been patient.  We're not talking about a guy in his 2nd year here

I agree that anything below .500; and he needs to be out. We play Cincy tomorrow at home, and then have our last home game against UCF this weekend. If we lose both of these I hope Kelly makes the move at the end of the week.

He’s not firing him after losing to 2 teams they won’t be favored against with 11 games left on the schedule.

I agree that he probably won't; and Kelly will probably make the decision at the end of the season. But if we lose the next two games we will be 1-6 in the conference (in Gregory's sixth year); at that point he fully deserves to be fired. i don't see a way back if you start 1-6. Having said that if we play like we did in the last 2 games I think we will win one of the next two games.

The most frustrating part of all of this is that I fully believe this is the second best team CBG has put together since he has been at USF, with the CBI champs clearly his best squad. This team should be 13-5 right now.  The close losses are terribly dejecting. I don't know the terms of CBG's buyout, but if he can get this team to finish with 7+ conference wins, I think you bring him back for one more season. He has assembled some talent and, at times, they have shown what they can do. You don't go toe-to-toe with the #1 team in the country on the road by accident. Does anyone know what the eligibility for all of the "seniors" is at this point? With COVID rules, I have no idea.

Of the contributors, Harris and Bryant are listed as 5th years so pretty sure they’re gone. Smith, although this is his 5th year playing, is listed as a Sr so not sure if he has one more left.

I do give Gregory credit in having brough Harris in, even if he is only going to be here for  a short period of time, he has really changed this team compared to last year.

If Gregory was a better recruiter perhaps I would be down for another year, but it seems like we will be losing our best player after this year and for now it doesn't seem like we have someone coming in to replace him.

Quite honestly, BG has done better, generally, with his high school recruits - Collins, Brown, Durr, Yetna, Castenada, Chaplin, Murphy, Conwell - than his portal additions. So I am hopeful that the three prep players he signed this year can be contributors. He's had more "misses" with transfers (Oduro, Boggs, Patrick, Anderson, Dawson, McCreary, Matos) than with high school players.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
