The whole system is brutal. You need to have a coach extended out for recruiting purposes, but it creates the crazy buyouts that coaches aren't worth. I would love to see USF pioneer some other way to do this. Maybe a buyout based on wins... i.e. - Coach Scott gets $100k per year left on his contract, plus $100k per win he has brought to the program.

My point, said differently, was if we were going to give a costly buyout to a coach that had no HC experience...if we're going to pay for a brand new HC like a known HC commodity, we should have gotten a known commodity.  Not sure why anyone would agree all the risk should be on us to take a gamble on a never before head coach applicant.

Not sure Scott or any other assistant moving into the role should expect a huge buyout.  Expecting a chance is enough.

So Rhule gets fired for losing four of the first five with a 22point loss to one of the better defenses in the league he is in.  Scott does almost the same to a team which has......hmmm...... 🤔 and still employedEast Carolina Mask GIF by ECU Athletics

Maybe we can get the Panthers to fly him in and pay part of his salary.  Or I can pick him up in Charlotte on my drive down from Hickory.

This would never work - I mean, Rhule twice went from 1 / 2 win seasons to 10+ in three years.  That is WAY too unrealistic for USF😁

His year threes look like a Christmas  miracle compared  to Scott's year third year.

Not that it is an apples to apples comparison, but the year 2s are what we were trying to achieve in year 3.

But this is year 3 and we have zero fbs wins. This is Scott's  third year at usf.  No excuses .

We'll have to see that final win total.
