Transfer from Syracuse Priscilla Williams a 6’2 guard that averaged 8.7 points as a freshmen at Cuse, was a 5 star recruit, sat out last year.

he has Freshmen coming in

Emma Johansson from Sweden 6’3 played for Swedish team , Center

Daniela Gonzalez from Colombia 6’0 played for Colombian team forward

Marina Asensio from Spain 5’8 guard

Big Returnees

Dulcy Mendjendeau 6’4 center should be a double/ double machine, was 10.3 ppg/ 7.1rbs last year

Tsineke 5’7 guard 14.3 ppg, will be leading scorer

Wilson 5’10 guard was second only to Pinzan while at Memphis in assists, didn’t get as much time last year backing up Pinzan

Alvarez 5’7 guard hopefully returns to a more effective three point shooter as she was as a freshmen.

Is Tsineke coming back? Remember reading something about how she was entered in the WNBA draft before coming to college so she can declare early again if she wants

Priscilla Williams is a HUGE get. She sat out after the controversy surrounding the abusive head coach at Syracuse. She was the #9 ranked player in the entire COUNTRY coming out of high school. Easily the biggest commit ever to come to USF, maybe in any sport. She is a redshirt sophomore with 3 years of eligibility remaining who shot 37% from 3 in her true freshman campaign.

Janette Aarnio, a 5'11'' SF from Finland is committed as well. CJF doesn't rebuild, he reloads!

Williams is a GREAT get and Gonzalez is a serious scorer. I like that we're getting taller at the guard spots. That was a problem this year. In Jose we trust.

OFFICIAL RELEASE:

USF ATHLETICS GoUSFBulls.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

USF Women's Basketball Lands Ole Miss Forward Caitlin McGee

McGee played in 56 games over two seasons for the Rebels.

TAMPA (April 21, 2022) University of South Florida head women’s basketball coach Jose Fernandez announced on Thursday that Caitlin McGee will be transferring to South Florida. McGee, who attended Ole Miss for the past three seasons, is expected to make an immediate impact during the 2022-23 campaign. McGee is the third player to sign with the Bulls during the spring signing period, joining former McDonald’s All American and Syracuse transfer, Priscilla Williams, and Finnish guard Janette Aarnio.

"Caitlin brings quality experience coming from the SEC and plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor,” said Fernandez. “I like her versatility as a stretch and her strength defensively and on the boards"

A 6-foot-1 forward, McGee played 56 games over two seasons for the Rebels after redshirting her freshman year. During the 2021-22 campaign, McGee played in all 29 games, posting two double-digit outings, including a career-high 13 points against Mississippi Valley State on perfect 5-of-5 shooting. She also racked up a career-high 10 rebounds at Missouri and had six games with five or more rebounds. In addition, McGee shot 51.3 (41-of-80) percent from the field.

As a redshirt freshman, during the 2020-21 season, McGee shot 44.4 percent (28-of-63) from the field and recorded a career-high three blocked shots in a win over No. 14 Kentucky.

McGee, a three-star rated recruit by ESPN who graduated early from Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, averaged 18.0 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks throughout her first three years of high school. She was named to the Florida Times-Union All-Decade Team and was tabbed a 2018-19 FHSAA First-Team All-State selection. In addition, McGee was a three-time First-Team All-Area and three-time First-Team All-City selection.

This past season, South Florida posted a 24-9 overall record, and a 12-3 mark in the American Athletic Conference, and capped off the season with its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance, and its seventh trip to the Big Dance in the last 10 years.

Included in their 24 wins were victories over No. 9 Oregon, 71-62, in the third-place game of the Inaugural Women’s Battle 4 Atlantis, and a thrilling 57-54 win over defending national champion and No. 7-ranked Stanford.
