I was wearing a USF shirt and someone approached me and said simply, with a smile, "Jimmy Baxter." You may recall, who did double duty with his spectacular dunks on the bball court, also was a three-time All-America high jumper who placed third in the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Championships and had a school record high of 7 feet 5 inches.

I ran at a meet at Oregon’s track stadium back in the day. It was incredible as the place was packed and their fans going nuts during every race. That whole stadium has now been replaced with a larger one and the US Olympic trials are held there on a permanent basis now. But by far the best track tradition in the U.S.
