What a nightmare scenario.  That would not be ideal!   Hearing Brett Yormark gush about the addition of UCF to the B12 last summer, I guess that they would want to replace their FL "flagship" program if, in fact, UCF was poached.  It's not my preference to see USF in the B12.  But you gotta go where there's opportunity.

UCF’s academics suck and it signed a GOR with the Big 12. On the other hand, USF is an AAU school in a larger market, and it’s available tomorrow via payment of a relatively small exit fee. 

if the ACC is anything like the current ACC post FSU exit, USF would get the invite over UCF. Not worried at all.

PROs and CONs:

Pros:

 

• Florida. Essentially replaces FSU. Tampa is also the second-largest metropolitan area in Florida (after Miami), with the nation's #11 TV market (1.8 million).
• Large student body and alumni base guarantees built-in fan support.
• Excellent recruiting area for football.
• Building on-campus football stadium, but can use NFL facilities if larger venue is needed.
• Tampa is a fun destination which will encourage fans of other schools to visit.
• What little sports history they have is encouraging, even if it doesn't "blow your socks off"

 

Cons:

 

• The football team hasn't been around very long, especially at the top level (of course, neither has the school itself). Bowl and NCAA Tournament histories are almost non-existent.

 

 

Bottom Line: 

In my opinion, USF makes a suitable replacement for Florida State. You're not going to find a team with the national championship history of the Seminoles, but what the ACC would be looking for is a competitive team in a good TV market in Florida which also has good academics, and USF fits that to a tee!
