We were offered the SEC after beating the GameCockies but we turned it down since the offer was only for us and not for UCF.

Unless USF athletics can go under a transformation on and off the field/court in the next 10 years USF will move further and furthrer away from P5 relevancy.

Unfortunately if the P5 consolidates into four 16-team leagues totaling 64 schools then USF will have to suplant one of the existing 64 teams already in the P5 conferences. Right now the P5 doesn't need to add anyone to get to four conferences of 16 teams each.

10 Years a lot can change both for teams already in and those on the outside.

If the Big 12 breaks up there will be five to six schools wondering around in the wilderness. Then USF has a shot as to get to 64 P5. we need to beat out the likes of Iowa State, KState, TCU, etc. Difficult but not impossible with the tv market and population.

If the Big 12 goes two consecutive years with not going to playoff then expansion is on again.

I would not at all be surprised if it is going on right now behind the scenes.

The B12 has already done its vetting and publicly said they are not interested so everyone thinks it is over.

What is stopping them from discussing things out of the limelight and working on a "feasibility study" regarding expansion?  They already have what they need to make a decision.

When it does happen they are not likely to make a big vetting announcement again.  It will just happen.

Getting the B12 to agree on anything would be a reach. I think everybody is just dug in. OU wanted BYU but that didn't go well. Now Texas and OU have said screw it. We will keep everything the way it is. Texas has it's Longhorn Network and no one can force them to give it away. OU is taking a wait and see approach and decided it can deal with Texas for 8 more years if it has to.

Maybe a few more years of missing the Playoffs will get the B12 to do something but I almost see the playoffs expanding to 8 as more likely.

Once the B12 TV  contract and grant of rights expire in 2024-25, UT and OU will put themselves out to the highest bidders whether that be Pac 12, Big 10 or SEC. ESPN will also have a say. With ESPN bleeding subscribers and Disney trying to figure out if they want to sell or keep ESPN, nothing is going to happen until things settle down.

We are not in the conversation. Our best hope is we can string together some more 10-12 win seasons and start to be viewed at BSU, TCU and Utah were 10 years ago.

If that happens, and they don't expand playoffs to always include at least 1 G5, G5 should go ahead and set up something like the FCS playoff. Our fans who are more enamored with the P5 than USF football can just go ahead and find one of those teams to start following.
