I want 12 for Football schools, would love to have USF/UCF combo for Florida but I like the 10 schools for Bball since the Big12 worked out WVs travel schedule for basketball which is the harder to deal with do to the number of games and revolving weekday games.

I still think if/when Big12 goes to 12 its Boise St and BYU as football members only and if this does not happen in 5-7 years the Power 5 Becomes the Power 4 with Big12 splitting into the PAC, B1G, SEC & ACC.

eh, just another guy's opinion.  This guy know's nothing just like the rest of them know nothing.  Willing to bet the only reason this guy knows UCF is their one good year at a better level.  They were far from dominating the conference.  Let's see what things look like half way through their season if they have already lost a couple of games.  They will be back to obscurity.

We need to rock it this year. I hope Willie has an offense in the works. Right now I'm not totally sure why a conference would care whether they had UCF OR USF. I think having both could become a cool rivalry over time, but these conferences don't seem to care about rivalries as much as footprint.

It would be neat to at least acknowledge something or mention an OCS...

The ACC wants to eliminate the two division requirement for conferences with 12 and over per their petition in March and the Big 12 signed onto the same petition, about not needing 12 teams for a championship game. So the Big 12 doesn't want to expand. But if P5 leaves the NCAA, it won't need to follow those rules.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/writer/dennis-dodd/24483893/acc-supports-deregulation-of-conference-championship-games-would-change-postseason-structure

The ACC doesn't want mandatory divisions for a conference championship game and the Big 12 wants to able to have a championship game, if they choose, with only 10 schools.

"The intent is to allow leagues their preference in how to determine their conference champion. It would theoretically eliminate the need -- per NCAA rules -- to split into divisions with the division winners meeting in a conference championship game.

That would benefit the ACC and other conferences which have expanded to the requisite minimum of 12 teams (and two divisions) to stage a championship game. Theoretically, with passage of the legislation, any of those conferences could play in one division and still stage a championship game."

"It is known that the 10-team Big 12 would prefer deregulation if it ever decided to play a championship game with its current 10-team alignment. The league staged a championship game from 1996-2010."

slick also said Wake Forest was going to leave the ACC because they don't want to spend money on athletics.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
