Also of note WVUs ***** with travel was with basketball (men's and women's) mainly because of the way the TV schedule worked and the fact that there is a rule stating no consequtive overnights. So If we played at Texas Tech on Thursday night we would leave Wed, stay play and get home at 4-5 am our time Friday morning and travel that night for a Sat game in Kansas. The schedule is also going to be front loaded next year for away travel between school semesters.

Football is not bad except for the one time Texas was back to back weeks.

Also being on an island might hurt but there are also articles starting to point it might help because we are getting a lot of TV from FOX, but this also depends on how Fox Sports 1&2 does.

Of course we'd take an uneven share, if it weren't for the buyout money we'd be making next to nothing. As long as at SOME point we'd make it to full shares.

We're going on 24 months of saying the Big 12 is going to expand.

They're not going to expand without making more money. That's pretty obvious.

I dont think there will be a buyout because we would probably just forfeit the payouts from previous teams leaving.

@steven_kaz @schmidt_john I keep being told that ALL the B12 schools (even Texas) want to be at 12 when the 2014 season kicks off.....

I'm sure Rice and SMU/UTEP/Houston will be just fine in the BigXII. 'course, we'd have to find replacements for Houston & SMU...Maybe Marshall & Southern Miss.

Cause you know...it's all 'bout Tejas...

Big 12 is subsidized to hold UT AND OU. It's a flawed conference like the BE, but in a different way.

It is criminal that Baylor, TCU, T Tech, ISU and KSU collect over $20M.

In ten years, When that GOR ends, that crappy overpriced conference will fall apart. That conf will be a dumpster fire. If USF is relevant and has not been passed by the numerous upstarts, we have a chance to join the leftovers.

Well, according to my confidential sources (highly placed interwebs bulletin board keyboarding kind of guys who follow this stuff from west of the mississippi) ....

"Instead of finding Texas schools, how about these possibilities?

Adding Central Florida and South Florida:

Big 12 North: Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, West Virginia
Big 12 South: Baylor, Central Florida, South Florida, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech

Adding Cincinnati and BYU:

Big 12 North: BYU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, West Virginia
Big 12 South: Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech

I like the version with the Florida schools. It gives a good balance between North and South by splitting up Texas and Oklahoma. Unfortunately for the other 8 members and any Big 12 hopefuls like USF, UCF, and Cincy I don't see the Big 12 expanding. I think Texas and Oklahoma will fight to keep the league at 10 members until the GoR is up and then either leverage the other members for even more concessions favorable to the Big 2 or dart to the SEC--by then things will have cooled off between the Horns and the Aggies enough that they can make peace. Alabama and Auburn will slide over to the SEC East and the SEC West will be:

Ole Miss
Miss St
LSU
Arkansas
Missouri
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A&M "

Well let's hope we get in there for 9 years of the conference before the dumpster fire ensues.
