Conference call is scheduled for Monday with ACC presidents. Looks like they may wan to add 3 schools to get back to 16. UConn and Louisville are sure bets and the last spot appears to be between Cincy and USF....

They're not going to expand to 16 right off the bat. Remember, adding 2 from the BE originally was (likely) a hedge by the ACC to protect against the future poaching that was sure to happen. They just lost a largely irrelevant team, they will probably add someone just to get back to an even number, but I don't see the benefit of expanding to 16 immediately when anyone from the BE would accept an offer whenever it's extended.

As well, none of the BE teams are really desirable to other conferences (save, UL which will probably be extended the offer to even up to 14), so they'll still be there when/if they get poached again.

If the Big East schools are so undesireable...why are we always being poached? Cuse, Pitt, and Rutgers most recently.

Right now I would say Cincy looks better for the ACC. Better football program. Have had some good basketball teams. And the ACC already has a strong presence in Florida, though Cincy will never be all that strong of a draw in Kentucky or Ohio.

The major hurdle for USF would be getting past FSU. I think Miami might actually go for us. There may be a stipulation on building a statement over a set timeframe.

Getting to 16 makes sense for the ACC as there is the potential for further poaching. UConn and Louisville both add a lot for basketball while Louisville has improved greatly under Charlie Strong for football.

If Cincy does not get picked up by the ACC, I could see them added to the Big XII to help them get to 12 teams and a championship game. Cincy and Boise St. would be strong adds with Boise required to upgrade facilities as part of the condition of joining.

Because the BE is the most vulnerable?

It's not like the ACC wouldn't go add Texas and Arkansas if they could sway them. Clearly, the ACC's only expansion pool is the BE (or non-AQ). The other conferences have shown that they can poach other AQ conferences.

Cuse and Pitt were poaching hedges because of this inevitable series of events.

The remaining teams in the BE are getting toward the bottom of the barrel.

I think we should be happy to learn that USF is being talked about. We're not the "Aha!" Type thought that we'd like to be, but being considered is very important.

It sorta makes our game against Cincy that much more important. Hope Holtz realizes what this game could mean.

Come on USF. Get us into ACC.

DON'T DROP THE BALL ON THIS. Do whatever it takes. Beg, politic, arm twist, promise, do anything and every thing.
