USF vs NCState Prediction

This game reminds me a lot of the 2014 game vs NCST game. They were expected to be among the top in their conference, we were coming in with Mike White starting at QB and Flowers also making an appearance.

It was Taggart’s second season at USF. Final score NCST 49 USF 17

Lets hope we do much better. It was 14-7 NCST after 1 quarter.

That 2014 game was worse than the score suggested. They could've hung 60+ on us that day.

The 2014 season is notable that we had so much young talent and could've easily gone winless.

That 4-8 record, felt like we just escaped 4 times that year without losing and yet could've pulled off 5 wins if we had held on vs ECU.

I think we will be reminded of 2014 thoughout this season while we wait for Coach Scott to have his 2015 Syracuse breakout moment. 

I'm optimistic but I'm not gonna hold my breath waiting for it.

Oh I agree we had lots of young talent but that game was horrible and we were manhandled. I’m hoping for a better showing but I look at this season as similar to that 2014. Second season of head coach, young talent that might not show up early in season and a 4-8 season looking as a probable outcome. We could have a similar look with QBs as we had then where Flowers as a freshmen had playing time but certainly didn’t look like the Flowers that he ended up being. I could also hear the rumblings about Scott as we heard in 2014 about Taggart.

2014 seasons offense though was really horrible with Taggart trying to run that west coast offense that was lucky to break 17 points. Our offense wasn't even that bad last year outside a few games. 

I think season could look like the 2005 season...6 and 6 team that showed flashes of future potential but with a better offense and worse defense.

1.) At what point in this game would you form the opinion we are going to suck this year? Personally if we go down by 3 scores or more in the 1st quarter its going to really kill any optimism I had for the season.

2.) At what point in this game would you form the opinion we're going to be good this year? If its a one score game at any point in the second half. I think the tiers of how good are opponents this year are:

1.) Gators

2.) Cincinnati/NC State/UCF

3.) BYU/SMU

4.) Tulane/Houston/Tulsa

5.) ECU/Temple

6.) FAMU

So if we can hang with the best teams on our schedule I'll feel like we have a chance to beat everyone else but UF.

Based on your tiers we need a split on tier 3, two of three on tier 4, and win the rest to get to 6 wins. Not impossible in my estimation .
