At this point in time, based upon his $8.1 million in winnings to date, I would say it's a close call. I mean, how much of a price can you put on getting to play golf at USF?

I'm think $5 million so it looks like he did indeed make the right choice ....

$8.1 million....that's insane. Assuming he gets enough sponsorship money to offset his caddie fees, he has cleared $5,100,000 post tax in his 4 years on tour. So he made the right choice even if you account for taxes!

So his decision to forego the whole USF experience was probably a good one ..... ?

Only for him and his family. Not for me.

Ex-USF golfer Chase Koepka enjoying Valspar ‘home’ crowd

Koepka, who graduated in 2016, has the crowd support but his worst round of the tournament.

USF grad Chase Koepka watches his shot on the 18th hole on Day 3 of the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Golf Resort in Palm Harbor on Saturday.

PALM HARBOR — As Chase Koepka approached a front bunker on the 18th hole, he could hear the loud “U-S-F! U-S-F!” chants coming from the viewing deck.

The encouragement was nice to hear after a sub-par day on Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course.

As Koepka walked back to the scoring table, he tossed a couple of golf balls to young fans, gave away his gloves to a child and posed for a selfie at the fence.

“It’s awesome (to have somewhat of a home crowd),” Koepka said. “It means a lot to be able to come back here. Honestly, if it wasn’t for USF and the USF golf team, I probably wouldn’t be as good as I am today, so I have a lot to be thankful for. … It’s nice to see a lot of people out here believing in me.”

Not a great finish for Chase. Believe he was 5 over on the last 4 holes.  He'll get a check but not a big one.

And, off topic, when Jim Nantz was talking about the Champa Bay theme for today he called the Rays the Devil Rays.  He had become more annoying as the years have passed.

You aren't a sports announcer on a major network either.

But, I will think less of you now.  😜
