Looking like he'll make the cut at the Valspar. He's at -3 and projected cut line is -1.  He was 3 under yesterday and shot even par today. Watched him tee off the 1st yesterday and ran into his parents, a former USF AD and a couple other USF fans wanting to see Chase.  It was good to see him again.

Great showing by him so far. He is currently tied for 27th at -3 along with some guy named Dustin Johnson. Nothing but pars for him so far today through 14 holes, which, at Copperhead is a major accomplishment to avoid bogey. He started on the back 9 today, so he still has to play 6 through 9, which are much easier than the closing stretch on the back half.

Also showing well is one-time USF commit Joaquin Niemann who decided to forego college and turn pro. He is currently tied for 8th at -6.

Watched him tee off yesterday as well with Thomas and Johnson. While we were waiting, Phil walked right by us heading to the practice range after a +2 round.

I was out there as well. Got out there early to avoid the heat. Felt more like a walk through a park or museum than a golf tournament. Can't wait for herd immunity and things to return to normalcy.

We got there early as well. Stayed until Chase teed off and then headed back to the car.

Crazy how well he did handling the pressure of being grouped with the #1 and #2 players in the world. He's only 22 and hasn't missed a cut this season, finishing no worse than 43rd, with two second place finishes. He is just waiting for his breakthrough.

So his decision to forego the whole USF experience was probably a good one ..... ?

At this point in time, based upon his $8.1 million in winnings to date, I would say it's a close call. I mean, how much of a price can you put on getting to play golf at USF?

I also stand corrected, he did win on tour already in September of 2019.

He is currently #16 in the FedEx Cup rankings and ranked #32 in the world. If he wins this week, he will have a legitimate shot at winning the FedEx Cup given the consistency he has shown this season. Hats off to the man!
