You don’t like comparing or praising anything that has actually happened here so yes CJL did not do as well as whatever mythical thing you created in your head but it’s leaps and bounds better than any other thing that has happened here in reality.

Can't think of any others. 

So not a few, a couple. We "competed" though. 

Also 2016. We beat Temple that year, we likely would have faced a depleted Navy team in the CC.
