This is and has always been my complaint. I haven't nit-picked about the attendance reporting or alternative assignments he has been forced to cover. I do think following up with a report of some sort

Durr and Kiir will have to play outstanding, disciplined basketball if Yetna is out of the lineup. If only we had a competent beat writer at a major, local newspaper who had the reporting chops and sources to get us an update....

That's a dumb statement...CBG is keeping a tight lid on this...no way any info would be leaked without getting fired.

That's not a dumb statement at all. A good beat reporter would have some sort of update, even if it is that he is day-to-day.

Also, not trying to be antagonistic, but how do you know that CBG is keeping a tight lid on Yetna's status?

A lot of coaches discuss injury status and a lot of great beat writers inquire about it. For instance, when Tre Jones went down for Duke we had an update the following day regarding exactly what the injury was and then updates regarding his progress. SMU will have a game plan in place for us with and without Yetna, so it really won't affect what they do to prepare. They will also know whether he is dressed at warm-ups.
