The play calling is really show this year. Maybe because of the inexperience at QB. We never seem to have a play prepared anymore.

UH killed us with tempo. They snapped many times before were even lined up. Besides that, I'm more disappointed in the CB play that the run defense since we didn't have a true Mike LB on the field.

Good pick up. Our D linemen were looking over at the sidelines for formations while Hou went ahead and ran a play. Happend at least five times during the game.

Notwithstanding our record, it’s clear to me this team has some glaring deficiencies. I think it’s wrong to pin it on just one thing. Conservative offense and questionable playcalling in key situations are definitely problems, but they are far from the only problems. Our defense is also unreliable, particularly on 3rd down, and has been all year.

Until Tulsa I was hoping they’d at least fix the issue on defense, and compete for the conference. Now I don’t think that’s going to happen this year, if it ever does under this coaching staff.

For clarity, as many quickly point to the defense (obvious culprit), it has been called out in multiple threads by others and me.

Still, we left points on the field.  Maybe I am wrong.  But with a swiss cheese defense, you have to hope the Veer and Shoot can keep up.

I think it’s spot on.  We’re also missing some playmakers and Tyre got injured.  There are a lot of variables in play, and some OCs/HCs would try and be aggressive to make up for any shortcomings.  Definitely not ours, and it means we left points on the field.  Not enough to win as the final score ended up, but enough to influence the game and at least try to put us in a better situation to win.

How about improve your defense.  Chasing points is a losing strategy.

So is settling for field goals when they score touchdowns .

over the years, we have never had reliable receivers that can catch the ball reliably. Ever!  Not sure if it is a mental thing, maybe kids get overly hyped at big moments or whatever.
