How about improve your defense.  Chasing points is a losing strategy.

What if it is personnel right now?

All first half wr were dropping balls or barnett was missing em. If youre coach what else are you supposed to dox double down? Until they can nail the basics I don't blame the play calling.

One might call that "execution" but no one wants to hear it.

It was obvious that they were not clutch enough to take the game even though it was definitely there.

Awesome insight!  But if your defense can’t get a stop, don’t you have to do something different on offense?  Like forego FGs?

Or catch the ball when it's there to be caught .... Games like this have pivotal points. The dropped pass early in the 4th that was a td or put us close was one. 4th and 7 was another ....

I know. Against Tulsa we were ******** about throwing over the middle when Tulsa completely took it away. We were unable to hit on the plays they were giving us. That's not coaching. That's either personnel or execution. Today, we got beat by a team with better players who made better plays.

The offensive gameplan was fine.  We needed to have a more grind it out, efficient offense to prevent Houston from scoring 100.  Penalties came at costly times, and there was some crippling misjudgments in playcalling on those two drives in the 3rd quarter.  If we want to blame the offense, then there is where you point the finger

Don’t buy that. We don’t give up 30 vs UCon because of personnel issues

I didn’t have a problem with long drives. I do have a problem with the lack of variety of plays and the power offense mentality of “they can know what we will do, but can’t stop us”.

just to keep the defense honest, can we run some running plays off tackle? A jet sweep at least a couple of times to give the defense something to think about?  How about running something after we set up the defense once in a while?  A hitch and go with a pump fake after the 2  or 3 times the DBs were squatting on the hitches  would have pushed them off the receivers a little.

The situational playcalling is horrendous. How many plays did we run in the red zone?  Not one  NOT ONE throw into the end zone no slant, fade drag, screen, post into the end zone  for crying out loud, with all the hb dives we run, we can’t get the d to bite and sneak a TE out?

we run 4 plays.  No setting up the defense

These things are why I think Gilbert’s offense is trash

The play calling is really show this year. Maybe because of the inexperience at QB. We never seem to have a play prepared anymore.

UH killed us with tempo. They snapped many times before were even lined up. Besides that, I'm more disappointed in the CB play that the run defense since we didn't have a true Mike LB on the field.
