For one thing, I doubt SM is coming back to throw in the tournament, while PS could possibly come back to close if necessary.

We have played better recently when we have had someone else on the hill. I just don’t have any confidence in him right now and if we lose the first game our chances are almost zero in a double elimination (this is not like the AAC Championship game where all you had to do was get there and win one...we would probably have to beat the same team twice in a day). 8 minutes ago, chapelbull said: He doesn't hit. I was just making sure. I mean we only scored 2 runs in our last AAC game and he wasn't on the hill. I know some people want him to throw 8-9 innings every time out, but we are going to have to figure out a way to score more than 2 runs against better than average pitching if we are going to advance. Maybe we should send him to the plate. it worked for LSU the other night.

Throw who you think gives you the best chance. 2) Game one is theoretically against your easier opponent, so you throw your #2 at the start and hold back your #1 for game two. Either way, Shane is definitely done after he throws his one game, so he starts game two for me. Pete gives you a chance AND he might be able to throw again.

But like I said above, I could see Mohl going with PS. There are some logistical reasons to do so including the greater likely hood of him pitching deeper in the game. Maybe the solid performances this past week gives him thoughts of bringing Shane in from the pen similar to what the gators did a few years back with Puk. You normally wouldn't save your number 1, but this is different circumstances. Although Pete didn't look all that great down the stretch

We are going to need them both to be better than average this time around though.
