Adjustments but no game plan?

Once we got blown out in the first quarter we adjusted, we took the slow D out and it worked pretty well until halfway through the 4th quarter.

However why would we not have done that originally as part of the game plan and watching film on UCF? This leads me to believe my suspicion that the current coaching staff aren't that big on game planning for an individual opponent and believe they have a one size fits all schema that will win with the talent they inherited.

Our DC was the best thing that happened to this team this year.

Yes it was. In spite of our thin LB depth and the LBs we had were slow.

Possible they underestimated the speed...last year no changes would have been made and they would have scored 70.

I said this in another post about Sanchez.  Sanchez is the leading tackler in USF history and the defensive captain.  You don't sit him for the biggest game of the season.  You just don't do that.  You don't look at one of your team leaders and say "you are just not good enough" without giving him the chance to prove otherwise.

Given the fact that they had a plan B tells me they did deliberate on it.

Man how attitudes have changed.  I was looking back thru some old posts where I pointed out one of our slow LBs and was called lots of names.  Good thing my self esteem is solid.

Yep, closed practices all week because they were not installing a game plan (that featured Q throwing more, a different defense, a wildcat play, and a 2-pt conversion play that was seamlessly instituted)...

 

 

 

(or maybe game planning and goal-line trickery were a big focus, but, NAHHHHH, these guys suck)

Absolutely.  Our dc have made some great calls during certain situations all year.  As for Sterlin, i dont know.  It seems like to me that he is inconsistent making the right adjustments during the game.
