That's not how Taggart started.  He opened with a blowout at the hands of McNeese State.  Taggart is a great recruiter and average coach.  His teams tend to perform better the year after he leaves when a better coach utilizes his talent differently. Even though the short history is WKU... I think USF will out perform what he was doing.  Already the defense has and the offense is well on it's way.

I agree. Taggart is a lights out recruiter and salesman and an average game manager and Xs and Os guy.

Did we lose?  I thought we won, but after reading this thread, I'm not so sure.

I definitely thought it was a missed opportunity to let the offense practice a two-minute drill before the half. I'm sure there will be a time during the season when we'll need to score in that type of situation and it's always good to get some extra game experience when there's not as much pressure. Just my thoughts.

That's actually the first rational argument I've heard .....

This I agree with

A little constructive criticism and some people lose their mind. Nobody is saying Charlie Strong is a bad coach.

If you have a problem with the Skip Holtz FG blunder but not this, you aren't being honest with yourself. The top coaches in CFB try to score in that situation. The 'practice for that type of situation' is definitely part of that argument.

Even if we won by 40, we'd still be complaining about the coaching. We're fans.

I think it's more a philosophical thing than a results thing.

I'm with you on this, and assumed the 2min drill factor was inherent.

With 20+ seconds on their 40 with 2 timeouts left, it was hardly a hail mary scenario and the odds of our o scoring in that scenario would probably have been a bit higher than 15%, given last year's record.
