How sweep it is! Amazing game by Peter after attending his father's funeral seven days ago. If UConn hold some on to beat Houston, the Bulls will be in sole possession of first place in the American with less than one month to go. Big out of conference and SOS opportunity on Tuesday is Gainesville.

Now we need UCONN to beat Houston to be alone in 1st place.

Houston leads 2-1 in the sixth.

USF is currently #25 RPI (before this game is included).

If we had lost to ECU our RPI would now be 30 (-62 RPI points).

The win on the other hand is only worth about one spot (+8 RPI points).

Impact Games are games that can move a team up or down the RPI Ladder (increase or decrease RPI Rank).
Direct Impact Games are head-to-head matchups for the team. Indirect Impact Games are games that include a previous opponent of the team and impact the team's SOS component of RPI.
Note: Late in the season, Indirect Impact Games may only have a small impact on a team's RPI Rank.
 
Win: 8 RPI Points
Loss: -62 RPI Points
RPI Ladder
 
They haven't yet posted our next impact game @UF. But, when they do it should be the opposite: If we lose to UF, it would  be just a small drop. If USF wins, we could make a BIG leap in the RPI rankings.
 
They should show that shortly.

The game is on Tuesday so shouldn't affect the weekend series if the high impact bullpen arms have to go. Curious if DJ Roberts starts or if they give the rock to Valdes, who pitched against FSU in a mid-week tilt early in the season.

It will be interesting to see who we send up against them.

To host a regional, USF will probably need to win at least five of the eight road games left to have a chance at getting to #16 RPI. That would make us 11-4 against top 50 RPI teams with 42 wins overall. We would also likely need to win the conference.

A win @UF is by far the biggest game of the year from an RPI (and reputation) perspective. Win that one and it then becomes much more realistic to think about hosting a regional.
