I don't remember it going quite like that.  I do remember it going like.

1st down....6 yard run by Andre Hall

2nd down.... sack or bad pass by PJ

3rd down.... sack or bad pass byPJ.

4th down..... punt

The difference with a competent QB could be this simple.

1st down....6 yard run by Hall

2nd down.. pass thrown away by Denson avoid the rush.

3rd down...pass complete by Denson- 5 yard out to Jackie Chambers.  FIRST DOWN BULLS!

Suddenly the play calling is ingenius once again, and the drives are sustained.

3

Exactly!  And once again, the same could be said if Hobbie were still calling them.  It hasn't been smith's fault he had no QB to work with and, it wasn't Hobbie's fault he had no QB to call plays for.

. Hope I am wrong but I am downgrading my prediction to 4-7 now. Pitiful, just pitiful.

With the schedule we have this year, anybody would be making a bad bet (IMO) to say we'll do much better than 4-7 no matter who our OC is.  We just don't have the personel (yet) to compete at the BCS level.

I completely agree, I am not afraid of losing.  I know there are going to be growing pains.  But the problem is with Hobbie leaving it was the perfect time for us to begin hiring "the personel to compete at the BCS level".  And if we had dont that and gone 4-7 we could write if off as a growing year, something to improve on.  But with Smith at the helm a 4-7 season seems like more of the same from last year.  Which translates to more of the same the next year.

I guess to simplify with Smith as OC it means no light at the end of the tunnel, with a qualified hire it means there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  The debate could be all for nothing, maybe Smith does well, but for now its more of a state of mind issue I guess.

Bullzpen... shame on you for introducing logic and perspective into this board.

Don't you know that we all feed on over-reaction (including me) and hyperbole??

;-)

logic and persepective?  Nothing in the title of this message board said anything about logic or perspective being discussed here!

When I said we don't have the personnel (yet) to compete at the BCS level, I didn't mean the coaches.  I was talking about players.  We have gotten a handfull of really good players these last two years but, other BCS teams have been doing that for years.  We will need another couple years to get up to speed.
