He didn't blame race for getting fired. He blamed his failure on not winning enough. Coming out and saying it says a lot about his character... because living in San Antonio when they initially hired him, the Spurs owner Red McCombs was anti-Strong from the get go. I also trust Harlan wouldn't make the hire if he felt at all that he wasn't into it after UT.

He will probably be here for the 2 seasons he gets his UT money and that is probably it. I dunno. If you're going to bolt after a couple of good seasons when your UT money runs out, why bring up an OCS in the interview. Seems to me he's asking for a long term commitment to the program and if you're only here for a couple of years who cares where you play.

With that new information coming out about the retention bonus of $2.5 million at the end of year 3 of the contract, basically he gets his $5 million a year for 3 years. So actually we probably have a 3 year window. Year 4 would be the logical jumping point if he wants to bolt for more money because his salary would essentially drop to just $2.75 million a year or whatever unless something changes where Harlan can pony up much more. That's actually not a bad idea. I think a few things have to be at play for it to fly. USF would have to start the season ranked. Like OU v UH this past season. Maybe you could do it at the Superdome in New Orleans. Other scheduled games that would be a candidate for that would be Wisconsin at USF on 8/31/19 or again UT at USF on 9/3/
