I can't find the link, but it's from CBS Sports... it acknowledges the FSU game and our 10-2 season as the reason. Somewhere around 37,500 per game.

 

Also fans had to attend games if they wanted to see any live action, since most games where broadcast on CBSSports network and thus not available to watch on TV or most fans.
