not a huge fan. hopefully we didn't break the bank and bend over on his buyout clause. we couldn't afford to pay him $11M to not coach our team like Texas can.

nothing about his stay in Texas impressed me. please don't say he was left a mess. They had just gone 7-2 in conference the year before. He was left with 5 future NFL draft picks on his defense and a doak walker award winner as a RB. he never had a winning year there. his record in his 3rd year was worse than it was in his first. he lost to Kansas in his 3rd year. a team that hadn't won a conference game in like 3 years. I believe he fired like 9 assistant coaches and had 3 different offenses while he was there.

When people call it a mess they refer to there being a lot of bad eggs on the team so he had to bench those players to prove a point that he was changing the culture of the program. Rich boosters don't care about that and just want to win games.

I am willing to give him a Mulligan for Texas.  There are enough moving parts out there that seemed to make it a bad fit.

He was an outsider who was given a pretty short leash.  I found myself routing against him in the hopes we could pick him up if CWT bailed.  I just never thought it would happen so fast.
