5 thoughts from USF vs Syracuse

1.USF defensive line will need to be sharper

Without Bruce Hector and Mike Love, the USF defensive line looked lost and weak in the first quarter of the game. Syracuse was moving the line of scrimmage right off the snap and the Bulls defense had no response for Cuse’s upbeat offense. The defensive line shored up and played better through the second quarter and the rest of the game, but with Florida State next week that has a much better and bigger offensive line, the Bulls will need to be much more efficient and stronger. Getting Bruce Hector and Mike Love back will help, but Dalvin Cook will be a big time player that USF must stop.

2)USF offense took a quarter, but is still efficient.

3) USF Secondary needs to be consistent.

...

4) Marlon Mack needs to stay healthy because he's too good

...

5) This USF team is mentally tough

I would really like it if the offense doesn't come out flat again next week.

I disagree with the USF DL playing weak relative to the way they ran the ball early. They spread our defense out and removed the LBs from the box as much as possible to get a 5 man box. That's very difficult to stop if you have average play up front. On the flip side, the pass rush continues to be non existent and that will be a huge factor.

Deadrin Senat had a hell of a game. We need more of this from the rest of the D-line against FSU.

Don't know for sure, but the defense was in a soft zone most of the night so it would make sense that they were more concerned with giving up big plays and happy to keep everything in front of them.

I am still not worried about the pass rush. No team is going to get a lot of pressure on a QB when he just throws 3 yards or less quick passes all night. Except for a handful of passes, their passing game. Was an extension of their run game.

I want to know if the Syracuse attendance is announced or actually butts in seats, and if this had any affect on the QBR or QF?
