Anyone else overjoyed at the fact that we can legitimately have this conversation and pay attention to rankings???

I think it's a dumb conversation at this point in the season. But I may be in the minority.

AP poll out too.  No love for us

Last week... Eric Hansen from the South Bend Tribune voted USF #24 (hence 2 points).  This week he left us off his ballot.

He dropped USF, Nebraska, and USC... when he added Wisconsin, Texas, and Texas A& M ....  so the three new teams all beat previously ranked teams (and those three losers are still on his ballot).

I forget. Did make either top 25 polls last year? I kinda remember we made the one of the top 25 polls  (like #25) before the bowls, right?

Anyway, when was the last time we were ranked on either the coaches' or AP? Were we ever ranked under Lou Holtz Jr.? I thought we got some love after beating ND?

I believe we received votes but never were actually ranked in 2015 at all

In 2011 we were ranked for like 3 weeks after that game reaching as high as 16.

As we have seen in the past, if we are to far out of the top 25 in the beginning of the season we won't be in the conversation at all. While it's premature to say we are going to be top 25, I think it's a legit conversation to see if our initial position + SOS is enough to move us into a position to be ranked once the first week of polls are out.

Maybe premature but at least we have a team that warrants the consideration.
