  1. My wife and I just got to Houston and will be attending Mike White's first start. We were at F S U for Daniel's but can't remember where Grothe got his first start. Remember the game where he came in for Julmiste. Anyone remember our next game after that?
  2. To celebrate the birthdays I will pour some Cabo Wabo over some ice in the hotel room here in Houston. Cheers.
  3. Tags also saw enough of Floyd to name him starter, Eveld to name him next, Bench to name him next and now White. So not sure what any of those decisions tell us about Coach's evaluation abilities.
  4. +1 Bench may not have the best numbers but there's no reason to give up on him so soon that is unless he's not 100%.Then it makes perfect sense. Playing musical chairs with the QB's makes it that much harder for the offense to click. Of course what do I know, the only coaching experience I have is from my PS3. the guy had plenty of time to show Tags what he has to offer. obviously he didn't make a very good impression on him. no sense wasting valuable playing time on a guy that is not the answer. you do not need to give a guy a full season to understand what his strengths and weaknesses are. his skill set is very apperent by now. he's not very accurate, turns it over plenty and doesn't even run all that well which was supposed to be a strength. Don't quite get how you dis a guy for not moving well when he is struggling with a knee sprain. And exactly how many full series did he play while healthy? He hasn't had that many opportunities to shine while healthy.
  5. Thinking about the QB position for next season; Eveld is gone. What happens with Floyd? Do they not give him his scholarship? Aren't they renewable each year? Do they encourage him to transfer? Otherwise we have White, Bench and, I'm assuming, two new guys coming in on scholarship. T Eveld is a walk on and shouldn't affect number of scholarships. But would a team use 5 scholarships on 1 position? Thinking something has to give with Floyd.
  6. Didn't UCiF go 0 for the season not too long ago? These things shouldn't be determined by a couple of bad years. Two good recruiting years and you are right back there. As has been stated in many prior threads, location and market share have much to do with this.
  7. So then put $1,000 on USF and see how that works out for you.
  8. My call is dinner on Wed at Pappasito's and Thur for the alumni tailgate at the same place. Then on to NOLA for the weekend. If the spread isn't outrageous I may be able to make enough to pay for part of the trip. Balked at the 21 v L'ville. If it is less than 20 v Houston it should be a good bet. The new QB gives some pause but prolly won't make a big difference.
  9. Trips to L'ville have always been among our favorites. Had some of your fans next to us at tailgating yesterday and, as usual, they were good to talk with. At some point we may come up for one of your games just to hit the Bourbon Trail again and visit your city.
  10. what happens if our completion percentage goes up by 20% ? why are people so afraid to let a freshman play and why don't they think he can be successful. he is 1 year younger then bench who is a true sophomore. none of the other three have ever proven to be good passers. none of them had completion percentages higher than 55% in high school. white is accurate. his completion percentage last year was nearly 70% with a 10:1 TD:int ratio. all teams have dropped passes. leaky protection for the most part is due to QBs not being able to read and get the ball out in time. we average less than 3 sacks per game given up. let's not act like this is why our QBs barely have a 40% completion percentage. I hope you are right. But part of the reason there are only 3 sacks per game is because the QBs are running for their lives and throwing the ball away to avoid sacks. I only wish the best for all of our players but IMO the QB play isn't the sole reason for us not scoring TDs. Given time, I think Eveld throws a nice ball. The team seems to move the ball better with Bench at QB even though is stats aren't wonderful. Hopefully White will lead us to 40 v Houston.
  11. you can deflect blame all you want but when your top 2 QBs have completion percentages below 42% and turnovers galore then I'm guessing it's on them. all teams have dropped passes. if your QB can't get the ball out in under 3 seconds then you can't blame the o-line for giving up a sack. we sacked and pressured bridgewater all day. didn't seem to slow him down. insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting differenrt results. You mean like calling offensive plays that require more than a 3 step drop and expect the protection to last? I know CWT has his "system" but he really is getting kids beat up calling the plays that he does.
  12. Bench was injured. Had a Grade 2+ sprain just a few weeks ago. Just this side of a tear. There was hope that the extra 4 days would have him ready for Houston but that was doubtful as well.
  13. Bench was not entirely healthy. Jogging forward and back was pretty good. Cutting was very difficult. Not revealing sources since I got blasted in the past. But the kid isn't near 100%. Edit: If he had been 100% he would have started, right?
  14. Very surprising that Bench played today. Heard that he had no lateral movement. But the plan was to play Bench if Eveld went down with an injury that would keep him out of the game and to play Floyd if Eveld just got dinged up and would only be out for a few plays or a series.
  15. Taggart announced in his post game radio show after being questioned by Louk & Robinson that White would start at Houston. So what happens when the 4th QB of the year doesn't lead us to any offensive TD's. Will people on here finally admit that it is the dropped passes and lack of pass protection that are getting these kids beat up? I hope we put up 40 vs. Houston but really don't think that will happen.
  16. Thought I heard that most of their O-line were seniors. Bortles is a Jr from what I read in the paper. Don't see him leaving early. The RB is a stud and he'll be back next year I believe.
  17. Lethal Weapon from the Board knows more about the area. Believe he lives/lived there. Do you know which airport you are/would be flying in to?
  18. Its now on Bruce b downs by what used to be a brickyard and is now acropolis, and the land and sea market. They're all in the same plaza. Gotcha. I know right where that is, even better than that terrible mall. Thanks! The new setup is pretty good, the food is excellent, and the beers are always cold. Very kid friendly. My 3 year old loves that place. Bucket list - Samuel Adams Utopia... Its now on Bruce b downs by what used to be a brickyard and is now acropolis, and the land and sea market. 19. Save them for Houston if you think that those 5 days make a big difference. That Thursday night game is coming at a bad time injury wise. A couple more days could make a difference for both of them.
  20. Hooters Wing House Hooters Wing House Hooters Does Mons serve food?
  21. A friend of ours is a WVU fan. He hates the fact that they can't easily go to away games. If given a choice, his would have been for them to stay where they were. Don't know if the schools are concerned about fans as much as money.
  22. Quit living in the 90's. The NCAA has set a recent precedent for punishing former coaches more than current schools. And I love the insults. Reminds me of 3rd grade. Come on. Don't stoop that low. Your posts have been excellent so far and I pretty much agree with you. Personally think a few more schollies should have been lost but overall you guys have suffered. And USF fans are jealous because none of our boosters are that wealthy or arrogant.
  23. Are you renting a car? Probably the best way. Also depends on which airport. Reliant, if I remember correctly is on the south side of town. Hobby Int'l is closer than the other which used to be Bush, not sure if it is still called that.
  24. He was supposed to give it a try today. Have not yet heard how it went. It was a fairly severe sprain but he was ahead of "schedule" whatever that entails.
