Due to the financial aspects of this football program (continuing to pay Holtz is the main issue), I can't say I totally disagree - unfortunately. However, with L'ville and Rutgers leaving the conference after this season, 5 or 6 wins should seen as a legitimate goal for next season. This struggling team cannot survive too many more 3 or 4 win seasons when attracting better recruits and maintaining a decent sized fanbase is so important. So, how long does USF need to suffer 2, or 3, or 4-win seasons before we finally see a 7-win year? Is three more years of losing an adequate time frame before people begin to demand better?
See you only have 5 posts. But the question of how fans of college football demand better is debated continuously here. The only way most say is that you withhold your financial support and/or stop going to games. If that is the criteria, having only 20k people show up for games, they are already demanding better. People on bulletin boards demand that the AD or coach be fired. But Judy doesn't read this and doesn't care what we think. Now, when the Board of Trustees or the multi million dollar donors want someone fired, then there is a chance.
The argument against withholding support is that the lack of funds will not allow for the hiring of quality head and assistant coaches. So you end up with a bad program. Definitely a Catch-22.
